On the occasion of 30 years of serving users, China Unicom Beijing and Huawei jointly held a conference on the new quality of life in the all-optical scenarios of Zhen Broadband with the theme of "30 Years of Excellence, Only for Better", revealing the latest progress in the construction and application of F5G-A in the industry.

The construction of the F5G-A all-optical quality transportation capacity network and the opening of a new era of 10 Gigabit ultra-broadband commercial use in the capital are of great significance. So, how well is the F5G-A 10 Gigabit network integrated with home broadband? What changes will the new F5G-A 10 Gigabit era bring to the industry? In September 2023, the Beijing Municipal Communications Administration and the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology jointly issued the Action Plan (2023-2025) for the "City of Optical Networks, 10 Gigabit City", officially marking Beijing's transition from the F5G gigabit optical network era to the F5G-A 10 gigabit optical network era.

Since the release of the policy, Huawei, as a strategic partner of China Unicom Beijing, has supported the completion of the world's first "100 T/T single fiber" technology, covering the most advanced technologies in the current optical transmission field, such as 800G, ultra-broadband C + ultra-wideband L. Jointly built a national F5G-A 50G PON innovation laboratory; In 2024, Huawei and China Unicom jointly released the country's first 50GPON 10 Gigabit experience evaluation report. The year 2024 coincides with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of China Unicom and the 30th anniversary of Beijing Unicom's broadband service users. As the saying goes, "stand at thirty", for individuals, after 30 years of trials and hardships, they should be self-reliant and self-reliant, and be able to take charge of themselves. In the face of the new 10 Gigabit era and the first year of F5G-A, based on the technical characteristics and industry needs of F5G-A, Zhang Dongya suggested that the construction of all-optical network technology facilities should be accelerated and the F5G-A all-optical quality transportation capacity network should be built.

First, build a three-dimensional joint computing backbone network, build a 99.9999% ultra-reliable all-optical base through a three-dimensional architecture and 400G/800G+OXC technologies, realize non-blocking connection and lossless collaboration between intelligent computing data centers, and efficiently connect computing resources of carriers, industries, data centers, and Internet services.

Second, we need to build a "one-hop computing" metro network, and use pooled WDM and OSU technologies to help OTN sink 100G to campuses, so that services can be connected to the network with one hop, and the network will be connected to the computing, fully meeting the needs of personal, household, and enterprise services in 1 millisecond.

Third, build a 10 Gigabit intelligent access network, with the help of 50G PON 10 Gigabit ultra-broadband, through intelligent identification of access services, intelligent hard slicing and traffic distribution, and interconnection with uplink OTN hard pipes, to provide a similar local experience for services with high computing power requirements such as cloud rendering.

The 10 Gigabit optical network will leverage the computing power service market

As we know that intelligent computing, supercomputing, and general computing power are collectively referred to as computing power, as computing power becomes a new quality productivity and the industrial chain is gradually improved, the industry is more concerned about how computing power can be better connected and used better.

In the era of intelligence, the connotation of F5G-A has been further updated to include all-optical 10 Gigabit and high-quality transportation capacity. During the press conference, China Unicom Beijing also demonstrated the latest progress in the application of industry capacity through the practical achievements and products of F5G-A.

On the one hand, for industry users, China Unicom Beijing has released an all-optical Wi-Fi 3.0 product based on Huawei's iFTTR Starlight F50 product based on a solid all-optical transportation capacity base and sound end-network service capabilities. On the other hand, China Unicom Beijing announced the implementation of the "30-way New Unicom Jingcai" action plan to help Beijing build a "city of optical networks and a city of 10 gigabits".

On the occasion of the new F5G-A 10 Gigabit era, it will undoubtedly bring new development outlets for the new quality productivity represented by computing power, Zhang Dongya said, the new F5G-A will bring key changes in four aspects to the industry.

First, artificial intelligence, in the era of large models with hundreds of modes and thousands of states, hundreds of billions of data are needed to meet the training needs, and the current industry consensus is that computing power is crucial, but we should also note that the capacity of information is equally important. In the future, it is foreseeable that the 10 Gigabit infrastructure network built based on F5G-A will realize the efficient coordination of information transportation capacity and computing power, and become an important driving force in the era of large models.

In the future, operators will pay more attention to the synergy between the F5G-A all-optical transportation capacity network and cloud capabilities, and provide "connection + application" integrated services.

Third, as thousands of industries enter the intelligent era, traditional enterprise private lines also have higher requirements for service experience, scheduling efficiency, and service capabilities.

Fourth, as the importance of computing power models has become an industry consensus, but problems such as insufficient power and space in the computer room of a single intelligent computing center, and the requirements of some enterprises for data security have also surfaced, and the 400G/800G technology of F5G-A can help the intelligent computing center realize the separation of high-security data storage and computing, and the integration of intelligent computing resources into clusters, bringing new feasible solutions for the construction of intelligent computing.
