Brad Hilderbrand believes that XGP may never be sustainable or profitable unless the subscription service can join big games like Call of Duty, GTA6, and more.
Brad Hilderbrand said in the feed: "There are two reasons why those Bethesda studios are closing, and neither of them is directly related to Bethesda — Game Pass and Activision Blizzard. One of the biggest problems with Game Pass is that basically every game that hits the service is seriously missing its sales target. …… Why buy it at full price when you can play 'for free' on a subscription service? ”
Brad Hilderbrand said that the system was able to sustain XGP at a time when it was growing rapidly, but now that XGP's development has begun to slow down and become much worse than it used to be, the game's revenue has not kept up with the budget for making and developing games.
Later, IGN co-founder Douglass Perry commented on the possibility of Call of Duty coming to XGP, to which Brad Hilderbrand replied: "It doesn't seem like it's possible, but Game Pass has also been under pressure to become a killer app that users can't live without." …… I still think the strategy was right at the time of the Game Pass announcement, the world seems to be moving towards a subscription and its value proposition is very high (there are a lot of really good games on the service).
