The pass was built in the middle of the Southern Tang Dynasty (952-955). The terrain here is steep, tightly choking the important land of Hunan and Hubei, and it has been a battleground for soldiers since ancient times.
In 1939, the Liang Hanmin Department of the 92nd Division of the National Revolutionary Army, which was withdrawn from Taierzhuang, was ordered to garrison Tianyue Pass.
In order to show the anti-Japanese martyrs who died in battle from southern Lunan to southern Hunan, the division used the reissued 8 months of military salaries, recruited more than 100 craftsmen, lasted 8 and a half months, and built this "Tomb of the Unknown Hero" 20 meters north of the Tianyue Pass.
