Fang Ning: What are the unique advantages of inheriting and promoting red classic films in the form of radio dramas?
Ding Zhongwei: First, radio dramas have changed the audience's viewing form, from visual to auditory. This transformation of form can stimulate more imagination of the audience, so that they have a broader imagination space in the process of listening, and thus enhance the artistic appeal of the work.
Second, radio dramas are highly flexible in terms of timing. In the fast-paced life and work, people can use fragmented time to listen to radio dramas anytime and anywhere, so as to experience high-quality film and television works more conveniently.
Third, the portability of radio dramas and the richness of application scenarios are also one of its advantages. Whether walking, riding the subway, or exercising, listeners can choose to listen to the drama, making the scene of receiving information more flexible and convenient.
Fourth, the transmission carriers of radio dramas are diverse. Through a variety of media such as mobile phones, in-vehicle systems, and smart wearable devices, listeners can listen to radio dramas anytime and anywhere, and this diversified communication method has further broadened the communication channels and influence of red classic films.

Fang Ning: In the process of creating radio dramas, how did you accurately grasp and present the essence and style of the original film?
Guo Jinfei: In the creation of radio dramas, we must not only retain the classic elements, but also keep pace with the times to ensure that the works can transcend the boundaries of the times. Pure imitation of the original may be difficult for young audiences to resonate with, and discarding the classics altogether loses the meaning of our radio drama. Therefore, it is crucial to balance the relationship between the two.
We have always adhered to the principle of "speaking people", that is, the characters are speaking, not just the personal expression of the screenwriter or actor. Our goal is for the audience to be truly receptive and immersed in the radio drama. Unlike moviegoers, who experience it through intuitive visuals and images, radio dramas rely entirely on sound to infect the audience.
When it comes to interpreting classic red films, we face a particular challenge. Older audiences have a deep imprint on these works, so we have to give full consideration to the originals. However, we also need to take into account the needs of younger audiences and make sure that the work engages and resonates with them. Therefore, while maintaining the essence of the original work, we will make appropriate innovations and adjustments to make the radio drama meet the expectations of older audiences and attract the attention of younger audiences. This balance is something we need to think about and explore in the creative process.

Fang Ning: In the process of recording radio dramas, how do you use sound technology to restore and enhance the scenes and atmosphere of these red classic films?
Sun Wenbin: For our radio drama projects, the original film is generally older. Once I take on a project, I start by digging into the original film, analyzing and grasping the sound elements in each scene. We put a lot of effort into the selection of music, as picking the right tracks from a huge library is time-consuming and a test of judgment. I need to make sure that the length of the music, the mood of the characters, and the fit into the scene are the best. For example, if a radio drama is set in the eighties or earlier in the sixties, then no electronic elements such as electric guitar or electric bass can appear in the soundtrack.
In order to create a specific atmosphere and emotion, we re-simulate and create some unique sound effects using professional recording equipment and foley techniques. At the same time, according to the needs of the plot, we will adjust the volume and rhythm of the sound at the right time to create different atmospheres such as tension, suspense or warmth.

Fang Ning: For the project of "100 Red Classic Films and Radio Dramas of Changying", what kind of social and cultural impact do you expect it to have?
Ding Zhongwei: First of all, the project aims to inherit the history and culture of red, convey political ideals, patriotic feelings and values through radio dramas, educate and enlighten the public, and let the spirit of red films be inherited and carried forward.
Secondly, the project will actively promote the core values of socialism and stimulate people's enthusiasm for striving for the realization of the "Chinese Dream".
In addition, red classic radio dramas can also establish ideals and beliefs for listeners. These works will provide guidance and the power of role models in life, and help people establish a correct worldview, outlook on life, and values.
Finally, from a broader cultural perspective, we hope to contribute to the flourishing and development of culture through this project. The work we do is actually very ordinary, only a small part of the cultural cause, but we hope to inject strong spiritual strength into the realization of the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and make positive contributions to the inheritance and innovation of culture.
