In order to enhance the awareness of disaster prevention and mitigation and the ability of self-rescue and mutual rescue of minors in the jurisdiction, on the occasion of the "5.12 National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Day", on May 11, Shiting Street and Xiangcheng District Natural Resources Bureau carried out a disaster prevention and avoidance activity on the campus of Shiting Middle School.
First of all, Fan Xianyi, a senior engineer from the Geological Survey Institute of the Minnan Geological Brigade, was invited to give a training on the theme of geological disaster prevention to the students. Mr. Fan explained the four aspects of signs, emergency response and prevention and control measures before the disaster, and vividly popularized the common knowledge related to disaster prevention and risk avoidance to the students through easy-to-understand methods such as illustrations, case analysis, and video playback, and taught the students how to correctly seek help, avoid danger, and escape in dangerous situations. After the training meeting, the school immediately carried out an earthquake emergency evacuation drill.
During the lesson, the alarm bell rang, and the students, under the command of the teacher, hid as quickly as possible next to the nearest table, corner of the wall and other safety triangles, covered their heads and necks with their hands, curled up their bodies, and avoided danger on the spot. The second alarm sounded, and the students quickly protected their heads with books and hands, bent down and evacuated to the open and safe playground. After arriving at the playground, each class gathered the whole team and counted the number of students, and after confirming that all the students participating in the drill were safely present, the safety teacher summarized the disaster prevention and avoidance activity, and at the same time popularized the knowledge of self-protection and disaster prevention and escape to teachers and students again. Teachers and students said that the knowledge of earthquake prevention and disaster reduction they had mastered in their daily lives had been effectively used in this evacuation practice.
This series of disaster prevention and risk avoidance activities has improved the ability of teachers and students to avoid emergencies, self-rescue and self-protection, and deal with emergencies, and strengthened the school's safety education. In the next step, Shiting Street will continue to take various themed safety days as an opportunity to vigorously carry out safety education and publicity for different groups, and take multiple measures to build a safe and harmonious jurisdiction.
