Wheat yield? Everybody is an expert in production measurement, a matter of minutes

author:Northern Rural Network

The wind of wheat yield measurement is intensifying.

In particular, some reputable seed companies rely on the so-called "yield measurement report" (without an official seal, with only one or a few signatures) to fool around.

Is their so-called "measured production figures" true?

In fact, all farmers, anyone can be an expert in yield measurement.

1. Yield measurement tools

Use a few plastic tubes, or lightweight stainless steel "hollow tubes", or even a few ropes, to make a 1 meter square tool. Place them in the wheat field and count the number of ears of wheat in one square meter.

2. 667 times the number of wheat ears per square meter = ears per mu

Use this 1 square meter of wheat ears, multiplied by 667, is the number of ears per mu.

Note that counting ears of wheat does not count the lower spikelets.

Henan, Anhui, Jiangsu, and Shaanxi (Huanghuai South Piece) generally have about 400,000 ears per mu, and about 600 per square meter are needed.

Hebei, Shandong, and Shanxi (Huanghuai North Piece) generally have more than 46 to 550,000 ears per mu, and 700-800 wheat ears per square meter are needed.

3. How much is the actual yield per mu of growers?

Huanghuai South piece wheat varieties, about 600 ears of wheat per square meter = about 400,000 ears per mu, according to the approval announcement of the [single ear grain weight (approved number of grains per spike × 1000 grains)] between 1.7 and 2 grams, basically the yield per mu is 680 kg to 800 kg - the more approved "less ears per mu" and "low 1000 grains" varieties, the easier it is to reduce yield.

The wheat varieties in the north of Huanghuai are generally about 500,000 ears per mu, the grain weight of a single ear is about 1.5 grams, and the general yield per mu is about 750 kilograms - the more "black and small grains", "serious white ears" or poor drought resistance, the yield is seriously reduced.
