Webmaster's Home (ChinaZ.com) May 10 News: Stability AI has finally applied its generative AI technology to the Discord platform for text and video content.
The new Stable Artisan Discord bot service was officially launched today, allowing users to generate images using Stable Diffusion3 (SD3) and Stable Video Diffusion (SVD) through Discord bots. This move means that users can more easily use the Discord interface to generate images and videos, which was already available when rival Midjourney's Gen AI image service debuted.
Stability AI previously provided developers with access to the core Stable Diffusion model via APIs. In addition, the weights of the core model are also available on the HuggingFace. Until February 22 of this year, Stable Diffusion was available through the Clipdrop web service, and now Clipdrop has been acquired by Gen AI startup Jasper. Stable Video is still available through Stability AI's StVideo.com website.
Christian Laforte, co-founder and CTO of Stability AI, told VentureBeat: "The initial launch of Stable Artisan will give us the opportunity to monitor user behavior and verify that the current Discord bot is functioning and running up to our standards, and then we'll start adding more features."
Stable Artisan is a paid service that offers a 3-day free trial for the first time. The service comes in a variety of packages, with the standard package costing $9 and offering 900 credits per month and the tier package costing $99 and offering 1200 credits per month. Stability AI's API uses a points system to determine the value of image generation, with SD3 images costing 6.5 credits compared to 3 credits for generating using the old but still reliable Stable Diffusion image core model. The price of the video is 20 credits per generation.
To use Stable Artisan, users can create an account on the Stability AI website and join the company's Discord server to get started, LaFort said. Stability AI also launched a membership system, which was announced at the end of 2023. Laford said that the Stable Artisan service is not currently tied to the Stability AI membership program.
Stable Artisan isn't just about basic picture generation, it also has some editing and customization features. The customization capabilities are similar to those of Stability's previous Clipdrop web service.
Features of the service include:
- Search and Replace: This patching service allows users to identify objects in images using simple language prompts. The recognized object is automatically split and replaced with the object specified in the prompt, without the need for a mask.
- Remove Background: This feature removes the background while keeping the foreground content.
- Creative Upscaling: Users can upscale low-resolution or low-quality images up to 4K resolution.
- Extended Extension: The extended extension service expands the content of the image by inserting additional elements in any direction, seamlessly filling the expanded space.
- Control Sketch: This allows users to convert coarse, hand-drawn sketches into high-quality images with precise control.
- Control Structure: This feature allows the user to generate an image while maintaining the structure of the input image.
While the new Stable Artisan service provides many users with a convenient way to access Stability AI's image generation models, more features are on the horizon. First, at this point in time, Stable Artisan does not yet provide access to Stable Audio. Last month, Stability AI launched Stable Audio2., which is currently available through the API and StableAudio.com website. In addition, Stability AI has several other models for code and text generation, including Stable Code and Stable LM, both of which are also not available on Stable Artisan.
However, Stability AI is working on a larger-scale interactive chatbot project called Stable Assistant, which was announced in beta when SD3 launched last month. Stable Assistant is a friendly web-based chatbot that leverages Stability AI's text-to-image and large language (LLM) technology to assist users with a variety of tasks through natural language conversations. "They are all applications that Stability AI is actively developing to meet the needs of different groups of users," LaFord said.
