Land curling is a sport of ground throwing. In the team competition, each team plays 4 people, and each person throws the pot twice per game. The two teams have a total of 16 pots for a game, and when the last pot is finished, the side of the pot close to the center in the base camp scores, and the one with the most points after the end of multiple rounds wins. As a team, athletes need to slide the curling stones to the target area within a specified distance, using strategy and skill to achieve a higher score.
In order to further enrich the sports activities of middle-aged and elderly groups and improve their health level, the 2024 Shanghai 4th Civic Games and the 12th Shanghai Sports and Fitness Conference for the Elderly, jointly sponsored by the Shanghai Municipal Sports Bureau, the Office of the Shanghai Municipal Committee on Aging, and the Shanghai Sports Association for the Elderly, officially opened on May 8 in the basketball hall of the Fengxian District Sports Center, with 16 teams and about 190 athletes from 12 districts in the city participating in the fierce competition. The Yuyuan Street Curling Team, which represented the Huangpu District Senior Sports Association, finally stood out in this competition through hard work, winning a total of 2 championships and 1 third place.
The competition has two events, land curling 5.4 meters and 10 meters, divided into three categories: men's team, women's team and mixed team, a total of 6 categories. Yuyuan Sub-district sent a team to participate in the competition on behalf of the Huangpu District Senior Sports Association. The Yuyuan Street Curling Team won the 5.4m and 10m mixed team championships, showing the sports competition style of Yuyuan people's unremitting self-improvement and courage. In addition, in the land curling 10m men's team event, the Yuyuan Street Curling Team won the third place, adding honor to Yuyuan Street.
It is understood that in recent years, Yuyuan Street has actively built a community sports cultivation platform, focusing on building a better and stronger characteristic team, and looking forward to more residents participating in community sports activities in the future to jointly promote the prosperity and development of community sports in Yuyuan Street.
