In March 1969, 18-year-old Han Ruifen embarked on the road to join the army and became the first female soldier in the county to join the army. From the moment he joined the army, Han Ruifen strengthened his belief in dedicating his life to the army. Since 1990, every year when new recruits enlist and veterans leave the army, Han Ruifen will go to the subordinate units in North China to teach and provide psychological counseling to new and veterans.
After retiring, Han Ruifen still thinks about the soldiers of the army. So, she put all her time and energy into the army and doing public welfare, and began a more busy retirement life than when she was working. Before each lecture, you need to prepare carefully; Every time I received a call from a fighter, two or three hours of phone calls were commonplace.
On Mother's Day, Han Ruifen gave a lecture in the army, and the female soldiers of the company affectionately called her a soldier's mother and gave her a holiday. As a result, this affectionate title spread throughout the company that Han Ruifen walked through, becoming her label and her glory.
In Han Ruifen's home, there are tens of thousands of letters from soldiers and thousands of photos of soldiers, each letter and every photo is full of the deep friendship between the soldiers and the "soldier mother". She also took her family to the company to do public welfare. Today, 73-year-old Han Ruifen has not stopped despite various underlying diseases. Because she knew that the officers and soldiers of the army needed her.
Mother Han warmed the soldiers with her sincerity and lit a bright light for their military career. In Han Ruifen's house, there are gifts given to her by the soldiers. Some of these gifts came by mail, and more of them were given to her by the soldiers when Han Ruifen left the company. In Han Ruifen's eyes, these are the sincere intentions of the soldiers, no matter how far away and tired she is, she will bring them back and collect them.
Since 1990, Han Ruifen has visited more than 4,500 military families, helped more than 30 military wives and demobilized soldiers find jobs, and enthusiastically donated to more than 530 out-of-school girls. She said: Being with a fighter is the happiest time of my life.
