Those things about arrhythmias

What is arrhythmia? To put it simply, there is a problem with the wires in the heart, that is, the conduction system. Depending on where the arrhythmia occurs, it can be divided into the following types: Is the feeling of palpitations an arrhythmia? What is the difference between premature beats and atrial fibrillation, Dr. Han is here to talk to you about arrhythmias.

Those things about arrhythmias

1. How do heart palpitations occur?

I always feel that my heart is beating fast and my heart is palpitating, which we call palpitations. Overwork, lack of sleep, or strenuous exercise can occur. Generally speaking, it can be relieved by resting for a while. Secondly, it may also be caused by arrhythmia, which requires electrocardiogram for diagnosis, follow the doctor's instructions to use drugs to control the heart rate, reduce myocardial oxygen consumption, and it may also be caused by myocardial ischemia, at this time we need to take nitroglycerin to improve blood supply, and also need to go to the hospital frequently for follow-up ECG, take other drugs such as aspirin, etc. for the prevention of coronary heart disease.

2. My heart beat a few times, and it was immediately relieved, what happened?

Many people will encounter a sudden heartbeat in their daily life, and it can be relieved after dozens of seconds. The most likely situation is that the heart beats prematurely, which is also very common, and the heart keeps beating for 365 days, and there will always be desertion. If the frequency of premature beats is not too much, then we can further observe in daily life, if frequent attacks, we need to go to the hospital to do a Holter electrocardiogram, premature beats are frequent, we can use some corresponding drugs, including some heart rate lowering drugs, or some medium-sized drugs, if we want to go and can not be relieved, then we need to do radiofrequency ablation surgery to solve this problem.

3. What happens to sinus rhythm during physical examination?

A friend asked me about Dr. Han, I had a heart ache and was found to have sinus rhythm, which scared me. Ask me if my sinus rhythm is severe and if I need surgery? In fact, sinus rhythm is our normal heart rate, our heart has a structure called the sinus node, the human body's electrocardiogram is generated by the sinus node, it is transmitted to the entire cardiomyocyte along the fixed conduction pathway, the sinus node is responsible for the entire heart activity of the command, so the heartbeat rhythm from the sinus node is the normal rhythm of the heart, do you understand?

4. Can I still attend physical education class if I find that I have premature beats?

In fact, children's premature beats are also divided into benign and malignant, most of the children's premature beats are single and occasional, and the location of premature beats is also better. If the child's premature beats increase significantly, or the ECG shows that there are frequent premature beats, or some special types, such as our so-called R-on-T, etc., then it is necessary to seek medical attention in time, it is recommended to suspend physical activities, and it is not recommended to do strenuous sports, so no matter which one, we should go to a doctor to identify, and we should not let ourselves judge.

5. Why does atrial fibrillation occur at a young age?

Some young patients with atrial fibrillation often have a question, I am usually quite healthy, I have few colds and fevers, and I have no bad habits and lifestyle habits, why do I get atrial fibrillation? In fact, about 15% of atrial fibrillation has no clear cause, which we call isolated atrial fibrillation. It is more common in people under the age of 60 and is more common in men than women. This kind of atrial fibrillation often exists alone, and there are no other diseases that cause atrial fibrillation, such as valvular disease, so it is mostly paroxysmal, intermittent, unpredictable, and the progress is relatively slow, but we must pay attention to the fact that if atrial fibrillation occurs, it may cause blood clots, and even the risk of heart failure will increase, so we must pay attention to it, but we don't have to be too nervous, in fact, everyone has the risk of atrial fibrillation. And with the increase of age, the probability of atrial fibrillation also increases, we doctors will have a lot of means to treat, so don't put a lot of psychological burden on yourself, accept it, pay attention to it, but don't be afraid of it, and learn to live in harmony with the disease.

6. Can drinking coffee trigger arrhythmias?

The answer is no. Many people like to drink coffee, but some people always feel that their heartbeat is racing after drinking coffee, so some people will think that drinking coffee will cause their heart to beat faster, will it induce arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation? In fact, for people who are not uncomfortable drinking coffee, long-term moderate coffee is not only harmless, but also helps prevent arrhythmia. A recent study of 380,000 adults followed for 4.5 years showed that if you drink coffee every day, you actually have a lower risk of arrhythmia than people who never drink coffee, about 3% lower risk and 3% lower risk of atrial fibrillation and/or atrial flutter. The risk of supraventricular tachycardia is reduced by 4%, so people who usually drink coffee can continue to maintain this habit.

7. Is a heart problem with a fast heartbeat after drinking?

The first alcohol itself is a stimulant, which will cause sympathetic nerve excitement and stimulate the heart to cause a rapid heartbeat, which is a normal cardiovascular response to alcohol, and some people are more sensitive and the heart beats faster. The second reason is that the patient himself has a disease with a fast heart rate, such as atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter, although there is no attack, but drinking alcohol can induce and aggravate the occurrence of these arrhythmias, so it is best to do an electrocardiogram to find out whether there is really a basic heart problem, early detection and early treatment.

8. Can obesity cause atrial fibrillation?

There is actually a correlation between atrial fibrillation and obesity, and multiple studies have found that the likelihood of atrial fibrillation in obese people will increase, and the risk of atrial fibrillation will increase by nearly 20%~30% for every 5 units of the patient's body mass index. There may be several reasons for this. First, obese patients gain weight, the burden on the myocardium will increase, the heart is in a state of fatigue for a long time, over time, it will change the function of the heart structure, the heart expands, and then lead to the occurrence of atrial fibrillation, second, most obese patients are combined with apnea sleep apnea, when the snoring is severe, the whole body is in a state of hypoxia, and the atrial cells are also in a state of insufficient oxygen intake, and the structure and function of the atrial muscle are affected, causing atrial fibrillation. Third, obese patients are prone to diabetes, coronary heart disease, and hypertension at the same time. These factors also increase the risk of atrial fibrillation.
