How "Falungong" harms its followers

author:China's anti-cult

"Falungong" followers call themselves "Dafa disciples," and most of them join the group with the desire to "be a good person" and "get rid of illness and keep fit." However, the results of their cultivation were not what they wanted, some ruined their families for the sake of "ascending to the higher level" and "letting go of fame and fortune", some lost their lives for the sake of "eliminating karma", and some committed suicide and murder for the sake of "perfect ascension". According to incomplete statistics, as many as 1,660 people were brutalized and killed by "Falungong," of whom more than 300 practitioners committed suicide by "putting aside life and death" under the influence of the so-called "ascension to heaven" and "consummation" and other fallacies; more than 1,000 people died because of Li Hongzhi's "theory of eliminating karma" because he was ill and could not take medicine, and more than 30 people were innocently killed by "Falungong" addicts. Even today, such tragedies are unfolding.

So, how exactly did these tragedies happen?

-- The "Falungong" cult exercises mental control over its followers

Mental control is also called "brainwashing," "high-intensity preaching," and "ideological reconstruction," and cult organizations often exercise mental control over their followers, and the same is true of the "Falungong" cult. Under the guise of "truthfulness, benevolence, forbearance," and "dispelling illness and keeping fit," "Falungong" leader Li Hongzhi lured some practitioners with simple aspirations. Li Hongzhi urged believers to use all their time to read his scriptures, listen to his recordings, and watch his videos in accordance with the "only way" he proposed. After receiving the stimulation of a single message from "Falungong" for a long time, believers have formed a state of hypnotic under mental control, with the result that they have gradually lost their normal ability to judge, think, and discriminate, and some even have mental problems such as hallucinations. For example, after practicing "Falungong" in 1996, Dong Zhi, a female primary school teacher in Tianjin, gradually developed problems such as a trance-like expression and abnormal behavior, and she was unwilling to enter the classroom or correct her students' homework. On the morning of December 5, 1997, Dong Zhi jumped to his death at the age of 24. Another example is Yuan Runtian from Guangdong Province, who was originally a kind and studious girl, but since she practiced "Falungong" in 1996, she began a nightmare of being devastated and tortured. Since November 1999, she has been in a trance, feeling that she is in another space, and often dreams that the "master" Li Hongzhi and other men want to insult her and kill her. One of these men in the dream was Huang Daisheng, a five-guarantee household in the village, and although Huang and Yuan Runtian didn't actually say a word, Yuan decided that Huang had violated and hurt her in another space. Yuan Runtian, who went mad, broke into Huang Daisheng's house with a knife, and slashed Huang twice in the face, causing innocent villagers to be injured.

-- Li Hongzhi, who calls himself the "Lord Buddha of the Universe," has confused believers

In order to control his followers and enjoy everything that believers have to themselves, Li Hongzhi not only boasted that he was an all-powerful "god," but also fabricated that he was the "master of the universe" and the only "master" of the "Falungong" cult. For example, Li Hongzhi said in his early lecture videos that he was "a Buddha many times higher than Jesus and Shakyamuni"; In his book "Zhuan Falun", he boasted: "My Dharma Body knows everything, he knows everything you want, and he can do anything," and emphasized that "there is only one Dafa master" (Zhuan Falun). Under Li Hongzhi's self-deification and self-boasting, the practitioners mistakenly believed that the "master's" "mana" was boundless, and they did not dare to doubt Li Hongzhi's words and obeyed his orders. For a long time, the practitioners have become puppets and victims of Li Hongzhi and his cult organization. For example, Wang Juan, an "Falungong" addict in Henan Province (the daughter of Wang Jindong, a participant in the Tiananmen Square self-immolation), said in an interview with reporters after his conversion that "Li Hongzhi is the mastermind of the self-immolation incident," because in the hearts of their family, studying "Dafa" is above everything else, and everything has to make way for "Falun Dafa." When they were obsessed with "Falungong," they strictly followed Li Hongzhi's requirements and threw aside their originally prosperous business. In this way, the family eventually embarked on the path of breaking the law, and her father, Wang Jindong, also became a participant and victim of the Tiananmen self-immolation.

-- The fallacies and heresies of "Falungong" induce followers to embark on the road of no return

Li Hongzhi's fabricated fallacies and heresies are all aimed at deceiving and controlling believers. Therefore, its "toxicity" is self-evident, and we will only select three of them below to see how Li Hongzhi used false reasoning and heresy to harm his followers!

The first is the "theory of human corruption". Li Hongzhi lied that "people are like garbage in a very high state of life" ("Lectures on the First Dharma Conference in North America"); "The Earth is a garbage dump of the universe...... People who are not good in the universe fall down and fall to the center of the universe - the earth" (Zhuan Falun Volume 2); "Especially now, the moral concept of human society has declined very much...... You see, this human being is really full of evil" (Sydney Puja Lectures).

Demagogized by Li Hongzhi's "theory of the corruption of mankind," "Falungong" practitioners have gone out of their way to follow Li Hongzhi's cultivation in order to escape from the "garbage dump" on earth, and even do not hesitate to abandon everything they have, including family affection and life. For example, Liang Zhaofeng, an employee of the transportation department of the Guangdong Shaoguan Iron and Steel Group Company, no longer cared about the lives and studies of her husband and son of "ordinary people" after she began practicing "Falungong" in July 1997, and even turned a blind eye to her husband being hit by a car and her biological mother dying of illness. Another example is Xu Huijun, a resident of Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province, who began practicing "Falungong" in 1998 and had a strange temperament, and on May 31, 1999, she jumped to her death in order to escape the so-called "catastrophe."

The second is the theory of eliminating karma and curing diseases. Li Hongzhi propagated that the root cause of people's illness lies in "karma" and that the cure of illness depends on "eliminating karma." He said, "It is only when people have done bad things in the past that they have karma that causes illness or suffering" (Zhuan Falun); "In addition to the karma given by the Master, we cultivators also have to pay back a part of it, so we will feel unwell, like a sick feeling, and cultivation is to clean you up from the origin of life" (Zhuan Falun, vol. 2).

"Dafa disciples" believe in Li Hongzhi's "elimination of karma" and no longer seek medical advice when they are sick. For example, Hu Guangying, a retired employee of the Shanghai Electrification Plant, died on January 29, 2001 when she and her youngest grandson both suffered from skin diseases, which were cured for a few yuan, but she refused to seek medical treatment because she believed that she had "lost her karma", resulting in purulent infection, and died on January 29, 2001. Another example is Shen Xinglian, head of the "Falungong" Guangzhou Counseling Station, who suffered from heart disease and diabetes, stopped taking medicine after practicing "Falungong," and died suddenly of a heart attack at the age of 48 when she went to Beijing in May 1998 to "propagate the Fa." Wang Lan, head of the "Falungong" counseling station in Yunnan Province appointed by "Master" Li Hongzhi, died of illness in January 2012 and returned to the West at the age of 57.

The third is the theory of consummate ascension. In order to deceive "Falungong" followers, Li Hongzhi fabricated the "Falun World" of the heavenly kingdom, saying: "Have you ever heard of the Elysian World? The world of Falun is more beautiful" ("Zhuan Falun Law Solution"); "The Elysium tree is golden, the earth is golden, the birds are golden, the flowers are golden, the houses are golden, and even the Buddha's body is shining gold" (Zhuan Falun); "Therefore, when he cultivates in the future, he will come to him with whatever he wants, and he will do whatever he wants" ("Zhuan Falun"), and put forward the conditions for entering the "heavenly world", such as "If you let go of life and death, you are a god, and if you can't let go of life and death, you will be a human being" ("Lectures on the Dharma at the Australian Festival"); "Let go of fame and fortune and go to the sky completely" ("Hong Yin"), and so on.

Tempted by the "kingdom of heaven" described by Li Hongzhi, "Dafa disciples" did not hesitate to annihilate their human nature, abandon their family affection, trample on the law, and even disregarded their own lives and resorted to various extreme measures such as self-immolation and jumping off buildings, causing one human tragedy after another. For example, on July 3, 1999, Li Jinzhong, a farmer from Sidi Village, Beigang Township, Tunliu County, Shanxi Province, and Chang Haochi, a student of the Department of Economics and Trade of Shanxi Coal Management Cadre College, believed that "consummation can ascend to heaven" and died by self-immolation. Another example is that in April 2002, Guan Shuyun, a "Falungong" practitioner in Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province, strangled her daughter Dai Nan, who was not yet 9 years old, to death in front of dozens of "Falungong" practitioners in order to "eliminate demons" and "achieve perfection." In addition, on June 25, 1998, Yuan Yuge, a "Falungong" practitioner in Renqiu, Hebei Province, claimed in a trance that he wanted to become an immortal and a Buddha, so he rode a bicycle and jumped into the moat with his son.

There are many other fallacies and heresies fabricated by Li Hongzhi, such as "the theory of the old forces," "the theory of the end of the world," and "the theory of saving people," and so on, all of which are aimed at luring and intimidating believers so that the practitioners will obediently be controlled by them, and the practitioners will not be able to escape the end of annihilating human nature, mutilating their lives, and being harmed by these fallacies and heresies.
