Located in Langxia Town, Jinshan District, the Jinshan Experimental Station of Shanghai Agricultural Biological Gene Center - Colorful Lettuce Provenance Innovation Center is the institution with the largest number of lettuce resources in China, where more than 2,000 copies of high-quality lettuce resources have been collected from all over the world, including green, purple, spherical and other lettuce resources.
Through the "high-throughput phenotypic detection system for field crops", the center observes the agronomic trait information of lettuce resources, and has cultivated a number of varieties. Among them, "Huqian" and "Colorful No. 3" are widely praised for their high appearance, high nutrition and good taste, and have been mass-produced in major cooperatives.

Through the four sensors, the phenotypic information of lettuce is collected, combined with the current transfer omics, genomics, and metabolomics, we dig out the corresponding markers for auxiliary selection, and accurately identify lettuce resources of different generations and different groups, and can identify the specific resistance, quality, taste, agronomic traits and other relevant information of each material.
Langxia Town produces more than 10,000 tons of lettuce in the year, and agricultural enterprises gather here, and it has also become the best experimental field for breeding lettuce seeds. At present, lettuce seeds have gradually shaken off the shackles of Europe and the United States and have their own Chinese identity. The center has cultivated a new variety of "Huqian", which has been planted on a large scale in Nantong, Jiangsu, and promoted to many places in the Yangtze River Delta, and is carrying out pilot work in Egypt at the same time.
In the past two years, with the standardization of the health food processing industry, relying on the geographical and industrial advantages of Langxia Town, a large number of food processing enterprises are ready to go. In the central kitchen, freshly harvested lettuce is quickly processed into salad dishes and sent to supermarkets, canteens, high-speed railways, and airlines across the country within a day. Among them, Shanghai Xinbo Hai Agricultural and Sideline Products Processing Co., Ltd., located in Langxia Town, as a national key leading enterprise, produces more than 20 million servings of vegetable salad fresh food per day during the peak period. Recently, Xin Bohai has also built a new branch in Zhuji, Zhejiang Province to shorten the transportation chain in the Yangtze River Delta.

Our current products are mainly sold in high-speed rail trains, convenience stores, and around the Yangtze River Delta, and we also have some quick-frozen products with a relatively long shelf life, which can be sent to Liaoning, Guangdong and other distant places. The market demand in Zhejiang is also relatively large, so we have set up a factory nearby in Zhejiang to achieve complementary product categories, shorten the transportation chain, and ensure the freshness of products.
While transforming geographical advantages into industrial advantages, Langxia Town also attaches more importance to its own unique natural and cultural tourism resources. A century-old bridge connects Langxia and Guangchen's North and South Shantang Villages, and the 255 square kilometers of "Pastoral Five Towns" G5+ development consensus starts from the 8 square kilometers of North and South Shantang. In the past five years, the lives of the villagers here have also changed.
