The challenge for the design of Southeastern University of Bangladesh was to meet its massive needs on a small urban site in Dhaka, which had recently been converted from industrial to commercial and institutional. The principle adopted is to develop the campus vertically while creating a central core to attract students, thereby activating the learning atmosphere of the university. The atrium creates inspiring spaces through different dimensions such as spatial hierarchy, sight-to-space connection, daylight, and most importantly, signage for the campus community.

Dhaka is the most densely populated city in the world, with 38,000 people per square kilometre. The city is still expanding in an orderly and disorderly manner, while people are migrating to Dhaka from other parts of the country for better education and job opportunities. There are more than a hundred private universities in Dhaka, but most campuses lack adequate space. But campuses need the right space to provide an educational environment for students. This contradiction can be solved by architecture. It helps schools improve their educational impact by helping them improve their experiences in healthy, balanced, and engaging spaces, which is what Cubeinside aims to do. In addition to formal educational spaces, students need informal spaces where they need a sense of identity to lift their spirits. As a result, classrooms and other formal spaces are arranged around the atrium, which is a space tailored to the hearts and minds of the student community.

The backdrop of the building is the former industrial area of Tejgaon. This had a profound impact on the design and was strongly reflected in the building façade and the overall character of the campus. The building is essentially restrained in style to maintain the unity of the campus while creating meaningful spaces and connecting the building to its surroundings. Students enter the building through specific passages, immersed in the central space full of novelty. The campus grows vertically around an atrium, with classrooms and laboratories arranged in a circle. The first floor is mainly public facilities, and the second floor is mainly administrative facilities. Starting on the third floor are the core classrooms and labs, and the tenth floor is the board floor. Corridors, bridges and terraces connect beautifully, creating an optimised physical connection and ensuring an intangible connection between students, resulting in a good community.

The cost of higher education is increasing day by day. The increase in construction and maintenance costs ultimately leads to higher tuition fees for students. The design philosophy of Bangladesh Southeastern University is to significantly reduce maintenance costs by employing off-the-shelf construction techniques and using local materials to reduce construction costs. The use of daylight lighting and an efficient cooling system also makes the building sustainable and reduces the university's long-term costs.
