The use of a granular ceiling made of cellulose reinforces the beauty of the mutilation, accentuates the light and texture of the product, and creates the ideal acoustic effect in the store. The floor stretches out like a giant Japanese tatami mat.

The structure of the shop is based on the composition of expanded cork, which minimizes the architectural feel. In this system, objects become structures, supporting space, and the problem of spatial layout is solved through the logic of materials.

The charm of imperfection
The project combines naturalness and roughness, as well as the rigor and precision required to craft and display products by hand. The store uses natural materials such as cork, which are extracted directly from the trees, or wood fiberboard and cellulose extracted from the trees. It is a pure and unpretentious space that brings out the texture of the material itself.

Architecture as a tool of expression
These self-supporting stacked structures are reminiscent of a wood dryer and the cork panels themselves – the modularization and repetition of the material are combined into a display shelf that displays the goods and gives rhythm to the space.

We use 50x20x25 cm and 100x20x25 cm cork blocks, stack one on top of the other – and then assemble them with fibre blocks so that the right distance can be maintained between the different heights to show off the footwear on display. The simple structural system systematizes the exhibition. These self-supporting stacked structures are reminiscent of a wood dryer as well as the cork boards themselves – a combination that maximizes ventilation – and simply places the product on a freshly formed shelf and is ready for sale. Through their modulus and repetitive combinations, shelves add rhythm to a space. The wall that separates the space also becomes the display itself.

Shaping the store space with original materials
Through the exploration of cork materials, the material sets the tone for interiors with its organic beauty and gentle texture. Expanded cork is made by heat roasting natural cork pellets, a process that allows the material to be turned into panels in a completely natural way, without any chemical additives. These materials do not require any covering, paint or finish. We understand the materials, their value and the quality we use, and we make the most of them.

A delicate and eco-friendly shop
By choosing similar materials, the scheme is linked to the environment and culture of Portugal. Portugal has the largest cork oak forest in the world, which is important for maintaining a fragile ecological balance and shaping a unique social, economic and cultural landscape. They are both a symbol of sustainability and an engine for sustainable development, able to combat climate change and desertification, and to preserve species diversity. The cork used in the shop is extracted from them, respecting culture and territoriality, blending local characteristics and preserving historical heritage. The selection of the remaining materials also adheres to the self-defined premise of sustainable development, with the aim of developing a sustainable business model that improves resource efficiency, seeks to minimize environmental impact and uses resources responsibly, such as the use of cellulose extracted from paper and cardboard fibers.

Spatial sequences
With the above stacking, the designers shaped the elements that divide the space, expanding the interior space of the store and extending the display line through its geometric layout. As the shelves are duplicated along the perimeter, a continuous backdrop is formed in the space, while four sub-spaces are also shaped. A circular volume highlights the center of the store and arranges the space in order in front of visitors. The spaces are connected by a diagonal axis along the length of the storefront.

Through the two large skylights of the circular space and the linear planar ceiling projection, the store space guides the customers in sequence, and the relationship between light and shadow in the space reinforces the material and design.

The garments are delicately suspended on a minimalist frame made of stainless steel tubing. Through a holistic and unified approach, the designer achieves a simple and elegant atmosphere with elegant lines and rich textures, creating an atmosphere that exudes a serious aesthetic and manages to create a gentle container that highlights the value of the product.
