Juan Medina, a Mexican painter, was born in Mexico City in 1950. First shapes, then light, then colors, and finally textures, as with architectural creations, the origins of Juan Medina's body paintings depend on the solid structure of techniques and concepts that weave his memories of paintings and canvases into a malleable dimension.

Over time, the steps from watercolor to oil became a resource for him to master the conscience of time, which was embedded in stone, wood, mirrors, and all the model objects that conveyed Renaissance rhetoric without moralizing.

Each of Juan Medina's paintings in which "another" reflects the universe must be seen from this point of view: the reflection is either symmetrical with another reality or, like the Mannerist, projects us into the decomposition of space, and thus leads to another symbolic reality, the reality of memory, the key to which only he holds the key. His work expresses a desire for a new understanding of everyday things, like the scientific approach to underlying reality. For more than 23 years, he has gradually combined techniques and materials to paint, constructing the three-dimensional structure of virtual space. The light field in recent works is not just a collection of trompe l'oeil effects, it is a practical synthesis of surrealism-surrealist art that is beginning to shed its atavism of folklore in Mexico.

In this sense, he is one of the solid pioneers of Latin American artists who have gained wide recognition abroad and laid the foundations for contemporary art in Mexico.
