CCTV News: The Chang'e-6 mission plans to go to the South Pole of the far side of the moon - Aitken Basin to carry out morphological exploration and geological background survey, to discover and collect lunar samples from different regions and different ages. From the launch of the rocket to the return of samples from the back of the moon to the ground by Chang'e-6, the whole process takes more than 50 days. According to experts, in the past 50 days, the Chang'e-6 mission has been carefully designed, interlocking and key.

According to Hu Zhenyu, head of the overall launch site engineering and technical group of the Chang'e-6 mission project, the Chang'e-6 mission mainly goes through 11 flight stages, namely the launch into orbit section, the Earth-Moon transfer stage, the near-moon braking stage, the circumlunar flight stage, the landing descent stage, the lunar surface working section, the lunar surface ascent stage, the rendezvous and docking and sample transfer section, the circumlunar waiting stage, the moon-to-ground transfer stage and the re-entry and return stage. In the meantime, the four components of the probe, namely the ascender, the lander, the returner, and the orbiter, are also involved in multiple separations and transfers. Chang'e-6 can be said to be interlocking and the key step by step.

After the launch of the Chang'e-6 mission on May 3, after more than 2,000 seconds of flight, the rocket will send Chang'e-6 into a predetermined orbit, complete the separation of the star and arrow, and Chang'e-6 will begin to run to the moon. The whole journey to the moon will take about 5 days, and when it is about to reach the moon, Chang'e-6 will have to step on the brakes, so as to be captured by the moon and enter the orbit around the moon.

During the circumlunar phase, Chang'e-6 will spend about 20 days adjusting its position to prepare for the moon landing.

When everything is ready, Chang'e-6 will begin to set on the moon and work on the lunar surface for 48 hours to complete the sampling of samples from the far side of the moon. After the sampling is completed, the lunar surface will rise, and the rendezvous and docking of the circumlunar orbit will be carried out. During this period, Chang'e-6 will also carry out a number of scientific explorations in orbit around the moon.

According to Hu Zhenyu, Chang'e-6 is carrying four international payloads: the French radon gas detector carries out in-situ detection of radon isotopes on the lunar surface; the ESA lunar surface negative ion analyzer detects the negative ions on the lunar surface to study the interaction mechanism between plasma and the lunar surface; the Pakistani CubeSat carries out in-orbit imaging missions; and the Italian laser angle reflector serves as the absolute control point for positioning on the far side of the moon, which can carry out joint ranging and positioning research with other lunar exploration missions.
