Among them, BYD still dominates, with sales reaching 313,200 units, rising month by month, Xiaomi Auto delivered more than 7,000 vehicles in the first month, and the M9 has started the hurricane mode on the 500,000-yuan track.

However, there were also disappointees in the market: Ideal and Aion both saw month-on-month declines. In order to reverse the decline, the ideal "last battle", the whole system started an unprecedented price reduction in April.

In the view of industry insiders, in the future, with the implementation of trade-in policies in various places, the penetration rate of new energy vehicles is expected to continue to increase. Correspondingly, the fierceness of market competition will increase simultaneously.

BYD increased by about 49% year-on-year

According to data released by BYD, the leading new energy vehicle company sold 313,200 vehicles in April, a year-on-year increase of 48.96% and a month-on-month increase of 3.57%, and sales continued to rise. Among them, BYD's Dynasty and Ocean series sold 297,900 units, Denza Automobile sold 11,100 units, while the million-level Yangwang brand sold 952 units, and Formula Leopard Automobile sold 2,110 units.

In terms of exports, BYD exceeded the 40,000 mark for the first time. Overseas sales in April reached 41,000 units, up 176.6% year-on-year. In the first four months of this year, BYD's overseas sales have reached 138,900 units.

Aion and Ideal, which had a great time last year, have recently fallen into an embarrassment. The deliveries of the two new energy vehicle companies both declined month-on-month, and Aion saw a year-on-year decline of more than 31%. In April, Aion's overall sales were 28,100 units, down 31.45% year-on-year and 12.43% month-on-month.

In fact, in the first quarter of this year, Aion's sales have declined. Its cumulative sales in the first quarter were 74,200 units, compared with 84,200 units in the same period last year, and the decline in sales is an indisputable fact. Since March this year, many models of Aion have also followed BYD's pace to start price reductions. As for how effective it will be, it remains to be seen.

Ideal completed the delivery of 25,800 vehicles in April, a slight increase of 0.41% year-on-year and a decrease of 11.03% month-on-month. In the face of the pressing of competitors, the sales pressure of Ideal has increased significantly this year. In the first quarter of this year, Ideal had sharply lowered its delivery expectations, and then the new power car company started an unprecedented price cut.

Ideal said that under the dual effect of the new price system and a richer product portfolio, the number of orders increased rapidly in late April, "because it will take some time for orders to be transmitted to the delivery volume, it is expected that the delivery volume in May will be better reflected." ”

Among them, the delivery volume of Xpeng Motors has not exceeded 10,000, and 9,393 new cars were delivered in April. Although Xpeng's deliveries in April increased by 32.69% year-on-year, this was also due to the low base last year. In the first four months of this year, Xpeng delivered only 31,200 new vehicles.

In the entire previous quarter, Nezha Automobile's performance was sluggish, with a total of only 24,400 deliveries, a year-on-year decrease of 6.9%.

Recently, a number of institutions have signed agreements with Hezhong Automobile, the company behind Nezha, to provide a total investment of no less than 5 billion yuan to Hezhong Automobile. However, the above-mentioned institutions also clearly require Hezhong Automobile to achieve an IPO as soon as possible. Judging from the current delivery situation, Nezha Automobile may still be difficult to "hematopoiesis" itself.

"Trade-in" will further catalyze the market

The Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Finance and other 7 departments recently jointly issued the "Implementation Rules for Automobile Trade-in Subsidy" to clarify the subsidy policy for automobile trade-in funds.

Among them, the subsidy for the purchase of new energy vehicles is 10,000 yuan, and the subsidy for fuel vehicles is 7,000 yuan. In addition, the detailed rules make it clear that the subsidy funds for car trade-in will be shared by the central and local finances in a ratio of 6:4, and the specific sharing ratio will be determined by region.

After the issuance of the detailed rules, Beijing, Guangdong, Inner Mongolia and Guangxi also followed up to implement the latest car replacement subsidy policy and issue automobile consumption coupons to drive consumption in the automobile market.

According to Cui Dongshu, secretary general of the China Passenger Car Association, as of 2023, the number of passenger cars in China will be about 260 million, of which 15.83 million vehicles with China's emission standards of three or below, accounting for 6%. In the view of industry insiders, driven by policies, there is a large space for automobile scrapping, so the penetration rate of new energy passenger vehicles is expected to continue to increase.
