Before you know it, AMD has been around for 55 years!

AMD was founded on May 1, 1969, less than a year after Intel, and has been in love with each other for more than half a century.

In February 1982, AMD signed a contract with Intel to become the second manufacturer and supplier of 8086/8088 processors for IBM PCs, which was later extended to 80286.

After that, Intel refused to continue to provide technology licensing, AMD took it to court, and finally won in 1994, winning more than $1 billion in compensation, and then AMD386 and AMD486 were successful with high cost performance, and after Intel entered the Pentium era, the two "parted ways".

The development history of AMD processors can be roughly divided into eight stages, namely 80486-K6, K7, K8, K10, K10.5, 12h APU, 15h bulldozer, and Zen Ryzen.

In July 2006, AMD's $5.4 billion acquisition of ATI became a turning point in its history, although it was saddled with huge debts and had to cut the fab, but at the same time it had powerful CPUs and GPUs, and obtained more development opportunities.

In October 2020, AMD acquired Xilinx, a major FPGA manufacturer, for $35 billion (stock), ushering in new opportunities.

Currently, AMD has a market capitalization of about $233 billion, which is as much as $100 billion ahead of rival Intel.
