Shenzhen and Hong Kong join hands to help cross-boundary students who have lost their documents return home smoothly

"Thank you to the immigration control police, without your enthusiastic help, my grandson would not have been able to go home today!" On the evening of April 29, in the arrival hall of Futian Port, an elderly man from the mainland tightly held the hand of Chen Zhenjiang, a policeman from the 11th team on duty at the Huanggang entry and exit border inspection station, and said excitedly.

At around 6 p.m., during the peak period of the inbound passenger flow at the Futian Port, a boy dressed in a Hong Kong middle school uniform came to the border inspection service supervision desk with a nervous expression and told the police very anxiously that his hometown return permit was missing and that he could not return home! After receiving a request for help, Chen Zhenjiang, a policeman from the 11 th Brigade of the Huanggang Border Inspection Station who was handling business, calmed the boy's panicked emotions and learned about the identity information of him and his family. Through patient relief, the boy gradually stabilized his mood and told the police that his surname is Zhang, 13 years old this year, living in Shenzhen, who just arrived in Hong Kong in September last year to attend the first year of junior high school, and travels back and forth between Shenzhen and Hong Kong through Futian Port every day. Both parents are mainland residents and have no relatives or friends to turn to in Hong Kong. A few days ago, his parents rushed back to their hometown in Inner Mongolia to take care of his grandfather because he was seriously ill, and his grandmother, who is over 70 years old, is taking care of his daily life at home.

Chen Zhenjiang, who learned of the situation, immediately contacted the schoolchild's grandmother, hoping that she could come to the port as soon as possible to accompany her grandson back to Hong Kong, and inquired in detail about the schoolchild's itinerary to Hong Kong that day. Based on his empirical analysis, Chan Chun-kong guessed that the student's Home Return Permit was likely to be lost in Hong Kong, so he reported it to the station command center and requested to contact the Hong Kong Immigration Department for assistance in finding the student's document.

While waiting for his loved ones, Chen Zhenjiang has been taking good care of the schoolchild, and when he noticed that his mental state was not good, he immediately took him to the rest area to sit down and asked him about his physical condition. After learning that the schoolchild had stomach discomfort due to hunger, he immediately brought him bread, biscuits and other food to satisfy his hunger, and thoughtfully poured him a cup of hot water.

About an hour later, the schoolchild's grandmother finally arrived at the Futian port, but unfortunately, when she went out, she found that the endorsement on the Exit-entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macao had expired, so she anxiously asked the border police for help. When he learned that he could not accompany his grandson to Hong Kong without a valid endorsement, the old man cried helplessly.

At about 20 o'clock, just when the grandparents and grandchildren were anxious, the good news came that the schoolchild's Home Return Permit was indeed lost in the Hong Kong immigration control area of the MTR Lok Ma Chau Spur Line. A few minutes later, the Hong Kong staff promptly delivered the documents to the Shenzhen-Hong Kong demarcation line at the Futian Port Entry Bridgehead and handed them over to the patrol and guardian police. Holding the lost and recovered home return permit, the schoolchildren's mood instantly turned from sorrow to joy, and they thanked the police officers who were enthusiastic about helping. His grandmother also smiled and highly praised the immigration management police for their dedicated and professional service to the people.

"The interests of the masses are no trivial matter, and every branch and leaf is always a matter of concern. For a long time, the Huanggang Border Inspection Station has been practicing "I do practical things for the masses" with practical actions. During the "May Day" holiday, the demand for passenger travel was strongly released, and the flow of inbound and outbound passengers through Huanggang and Futian ports will continue to rise. The police on duty reminded the majority of inbound and outbound passengers to take good care of their entry and exit documents when traveling, and if they encounter difficulties at the port, they can seek help from the immigration management police on duty at the scene.
