According to a report by AFP on May 1, Ukrainian authorities said that the Ukrainian army attacked an oil refinery in Russia's Ryazan Oblast on the same day, which was a new round of drone attacks on Russian energy infrastructure. The Ryazan region is located about 190 km southeast of Moscow.
Since last year, as the conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues, Ukraine has regularly sent drones to Russia, increasingly targeting locations such as factories and refineries in Russia's hinterland, the report said.
"At around 2 a.m. on May 1, during an operation by the Ukrainian Defense Intelligence Agency, a drone attacked an oil refinery in Russia's Ryazan region," the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine said in a statement to AFP. ”
The governor of the Russian Ryazan region, Pavel Markov, confirmed that the state was attacked, and according to preliminary information, there were no casualties.
It is reported that the refinery that was attacked is owned by the Russian oil giant Rosneft.
