It is another year of busy farming season, and it is a good time for spring ploughing. The fertile land of Jilin is full of fiery spring ploughing scenes, and the spring busy mode that opened early lays a solid foundation for the harvest of the new year, and a unique spring ploughing picture is slowly unfolding.

"Growing Grain" on the Black Soil

Walking into Sanliang Village, Tiande Township, Shulan City, the billboard of "taking effective measures to protect and make good use of the black soil, the 'giant panda in the cultivated land', so that it will always benefit the people", a straw returning machine and a strip cultivator shuttle back and forth in the field, and the straw covered leisure belt and sowing belt are alternately distributed.

"The use of conservation tillage technology can not only improve the soil, but also improve the ability of corn to retain water and resist drought and the emergence rate, and greatly increase grain production," said Wang Zhongcheng, head ......of Wang Zhongcheng Family Farm in Shulan City, standing on the ridge of the field and telling the surrounding farmers about his "grain planting experience".

In 2019, Wang Zhongcheng was exposed to conservation tillage technology at a new professional farmer training course organized by the Shulan Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and the new technology and new model opened his eyes, especially the white clay soil in his village with low soil fertility.

Over the past few years, the plots of farm cultivation are quietly changing, more and more farmers have seen the benefits of conservation tillage, and have handed over their land to the farm trusteeship, and the farm has actively explored the whole village promotion model, serving more than 4,000 acres of local farmers. In order to promote conservation tillage technology, with the help of the agricultural department of Shulan City, the farm actively cooperates with the Northeast Institute of Geography and Agroecology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to carry out the application of conservation tillage technology and the monitoring of soil moisture, tillage temperature, and straw decomposition degree under different modes, so as to effectively prevent soil erosion, cultivate soil fertility, protect black soil granary, and promote the growth and income of grain crops.

"Growing Grain" on the Black Soil

Driven by Wang Zhongcheng's family farm, more than 40 family farms in eight townships and towns of Tiande, Xihe, Baiqi, Fate, Chaoyang, Ash, Lianhua and Liangjiashan have purchased a number of no-tillage seeders, which have played an increasingly obvious role in promoting the application of conservation tillage technology.

Take care of the black soil, and have the confidence to harvest a good harvest. In recent years, Shulan City has adhered to the demonstration and application, taken multiple measures to promote conservation tillage, and achieved a conservation tillage area of 62,300 mu in 2023, ranking first in Jilin.

Work "demonstration driven". Give full play to the demonstration and driving effect of the high-standard application base of conservation tillage, and establish 3 demonstration areas for the application of high-standard conservation tillage technology in counties and townships, and 17 demonstration bases for the application of conservation tillage technology.

Work "subsidy support". From 2022 to 2023, cumulative subsidies will be implemented for strip tillage operations, with a total investment of 2.134 million yuan. This year, we will continue to use the financial funds at the same level to introduce a subsidy policy of 40 yuan/mu for strip tillage operations and 1,000 yuan/set for the purchase of terminal monitoring equipment, and promote the expansion of conservation tillage area in 2024.

Work "propaganda and training". During the preparation for spring ploughing this year, Shulan City organized a training meeting on conservation tillage technology to achieve full coverage of all towns and villages in the city. So far, 21 agricultural machinery technical trainings have been organized, 3 on-site demonstrations have been held, more than 6,000 promotional materials have been distributed, and more than 1,800 trainees have been trained.

"This year, the city plans to implement 100,000 acres of black soil conservation tillage. We will concentrate our efforts to seize the season, do a good job in technical guidance and services, and lay a solid foundation for protecting the black soil and seizing a bumper agricultural harvest throughout the year. Li Wensheng, deputy director of Shulan Agricultural Machinery Station, said.

The oily black soil is full of "fertile". With the cooperation of machinery, a ridge of cultivated land has been fully equipped and ready for sowing.
