A FEW DAYS AGO, BENTLEY OFFICIALLY RELEASED THE BENTAYGA (PARAMETER | INQUIRY) APEX EDITION MODEL, WHICH IS BASED ON THE BENTAYGA S, AND HAS BEEN UPGRADED BY THE MULLINER DEPARTMENT FOR A MORE EXCLUSIVE AND SPORTY UPGRADE.
The 22-inch MULLINER carbon wheels, created exclusively for the Bentayga model, have been developed in collaboration with composite manufacturer Bucci Composites, making the Bentayga APEX even more dynamic. The unsprung mass of the four hubs was reduced by a total of 24 kg. Carbon fiber materials are not only lightweight, but also help to further improve the strength and stiffness of the wheel, making the vehicle perform better.
Unlike forged aluminium wheels, which can lose up to 1 degree of camber due to bending and deformation, carbon fiber wheels benefit from a 6-kilogram weight reduction and high stiffness, resulting in a more stable and responsive steering experience. The Bentayga APEX version has also been improved in braking performance, with silicon carbide (CSiC) discs being more than 20kg lighter than cast iron discs, with a maximum braking torque of 6,000 Nm and a high temperature of 1,000°C.
THE MULLINER DEPARTMENT HAS CREATED SIX EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR THEMES FOR THE BENTAYGA APEX EDITION, WITH EACH BENTAYGA APEX MODEL EQUIPPED WITH A WEALTH OF BESPOKE CONTENT. Exclusive bespoke exteriors include a matte carbon fibre aerodynamic front spoiler, rear spoiler, sill plate and mirror caps in the styling package. The interior design revolves around a bespoke colour scheme, with a matte carbon fibre instrument cluster, centre console and door lumbar beam, as well as a five-seat comfort package, plus Naim's top-of-the-line audio.
Other bespoke details include embroidered threading on the APEX seats with contrasting Bentley logos, APEX Style badging on the door sills and carbon fibre treadplates with 'Apex Edition' lettering. The exterior D-pillar also features a carbon fibre Apex Edition badge. In addition, all APEX models are equipped with the latest Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which include travel configurations.
Based on the Bentayga S, the Bentayga APEX is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine with 550 hp and 770 Nm of torque, a 0-100 km/h time of 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 290 km/h. Bentley Dynamic Ride's active anti-roll control system and rear-wheel steering are standard on the model, while the sports exhaust pipes provide an exuberant exhaust sound.
