Li Junbing is 45 years old this year, dark-skinned, dressed plainly, and speaks in a low Hunan accent, giving people the first impression of being simple, honest and down-to-earth. Since 2009, he has served as the manager of the reinforcement branch of the Wugang Institute of the Second Harbor Bureau, and in the past 15 years, he has led the team to devote himself to researching technology, paying close attention to market development, strengthening project management, and participated in the reinforcement and maintenance of more than 100 bridges at home and abroad by virtue of the hard-working, domineering and endurant quality of Hunan people. In the past three years, Li Junbing's team has successively won the maintenance and reinforcement projects of the Qianshi Bridge, Hedong Bridge, Xinguang Bridge and other extra-large bridges, with a total contract value of about 1.55 billion yuan and a total output value of about 840 million yuan, achieving leapfrog development. In 2024, Li Junbing won the "Wuhan May Day Labor Medal".

On March 22, 2021, at the project management planning meeting for the general contracting of the construction of the large and medium repair project of the Hedong Bridge, Huang Haiou, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Jianke Company, put forward requirements for the project team.

Li Junbing was well aware of the importance of the Hedong Bridge to the company's bridge maintenance brand, and he led the team to the bank of the Pearl River as soon as possible to quickly and comprehensively promote the construction of the project.

In order to express determination and stimulate morale, at the beginning of the project, Li Junbing said to his team: "The beginning of this project is a decisive battle, there is no negotiation, and there is no way out!"

During this period, he led the project construction team to compile more than 30 plans, and invited experts to conduct rigorous demonstrations to ensure the smooth progress of the bridge maintenance and reinforcement project.

"Xiao Li, have you finished eating, bring a notebook and go out with me. As soon as he came back from the construction site, before he had time to drink saliva, Li Junbing took Xiao Li from the office and listened to the opinions of nearby residents from door to door. This kind of work rhythm is commonplace for Li Junbing. Noise barriers have been installed at the construction site, but Li Junbing is still not at ease, and must personally ask the opinions of nearby residents to see what they need and what needs to be improved. Under Li Junbing's careful questioning, there was not a single noise report during the entire construction cycle.

During the construction process, Li Junbing's team used a steel-UHPC composite beam system to reduce the amount of concrete used by 30% compared with the conventional bridge deck, which greatly reduced carbon emissions. By using static cutting, demolition, centralized decomposition and other methods to update the structure, the on-site dust is reduced by more than 95%. By strengthening technological innovation, the project has obtained a total of 3 technological initiatives, 2 technological leaders and 2 technological breakthroughs, which has greatly improved the construction quality and efficiency.

After 150 days, the Hedong Bridge was completed and opened to traffic 20 days ahead of schedule, which was highly affirmed by the Guangzhou Municipal Government, the Transportation Bureau and the Municipal Communications and Investment Units, and won the honors of "Wuyang Cup" and "Safe and Civilized Green Construction Model Site" in Guangzhou, and won the highest quality award of the provincial and ministerial bridge maintenance category of the "Excellent Municipal Model Project of Guangdong Province".

The same record also comes from the maintenance and reinforcement project of Changde Deshan Bridge in Hunan. Tokuyama Bridge opens to traffic 9 days earlier. In just 51 days, Li Junbing's team completed nearly 3.5 kilometers of bridge deck renovation, 4,792 bearing replacements and more than 3,800 steel component installation tasks, creating "Deshan speed" and winning the "Outstanding Contribution Award" for bridge construction in Changde City.

In 2019, the reinforcement and maintenance work of many extra-large bridges such as Qishi and Hedong entered the early stage of the project, and according to the company's arrangement, Li Junbing is closely following.

At the beginning of 2020, a sudden epidemic caused the rhythm of market development to be completely disrupted. After the epidemic situation improved, he started a business mode of one car and one person wearing masks.

In order to dispel the other party's concerns about the epidemic, he minimized contact with others, consciously took protective measures, and did a nucleic acid test before visiting. After the owner learned about his situation, he couldn't help but give a thumbs up, full of admiration for this Hunan man who overcame all difficulties and charged ahead.

With the blessing of emotion, the business work has been promoted more smoothly. In half a year, he drove to and from Guangzhou, Guizhou, Chongqing and other places many times, laying a solid foundation for the early operation of projects such as Qishi Bridge and Hedong Bridge.

In 2020, the Reinforcement Business Unit achieved 109% of the target of the business plan for the whole year. Every time his colleagues talked about him, they gave him a thumbs up and praised: "Mr. Li is simply a miracle, with him, we are all at ease."

In 2008, Wugang Institute won the bid for the maintenance and reinforcement project of China Merchants Kennedy Town, Hong Kong, with a contract amount of more than 10 million, and the reinforcement business ushered in a great turning point in development.

As the person in charge of the project, 29-year-old Li Junbing rushed to the construction site as soon as possible.

Hong Kong's Kennedy Town Harbour Area is located in the western section of Hong Kong Island, with Iwo Strait to the west, which is an important shipping route in and out of Victoria Harbour. China Merchants Wharf is a high-pile beam plate structure, with a wharf platform of about 170 meters long and a berth on each side of the inner and outer sides. Among them, the designed tonnage of the seaside berth is 30,000 tons, and the landside berth is 15,000 tons. The wharf was built in the 80s, due to the perennial high temperature and humidity in the coastal areas of South China, the wharf components have been in a harsh chloride ion erosion environment for a long time, and the reinforced concrete components have been damaged to varying degrees.

After Li Junbing's team arrived at the scene, they quickly assessed the damage to the components. According to the degree of component damage, it is decided to divide it into three categories for maintenance treatment.

For large-scale spalling of concrete, exposed rib components and components with cracks greater than 1 mm, the concrete must be chiseled to the uncorroded part of the steel bar, rinsed with fresh water, and then layered and coped with polypropylene fiber JVS polymer cement mortar. After the first layer of mortar is set, the second layer is wiped until the repair is in place and the original state is restored. In order to ensure that the JVS polymer mortar is firmly bonded to the old and concrete, Li Junbing's team also sprayed the interface treatment agent and rust inhibitor at the interface part. For cracks with a width of less than 0.2 mm, the surface sealing method is used for surface sealing, while for rust-free cracks with a width of between 0.2-1 mm, a V-shaped groove is chiseled along the gap and the structural cement is applied after cleaning. For the parts with defects such as damage, exposed ribs, honeycomb, and hemp surface on the concrete surface, the loose concrete in the defective area is manually removed, and after being rinsed, polymer cement mortar is used to smooth it.

During the construction process, Li Junbing's team scientifically formulated the construction schedule, efficiently allocated resources such as man, machine, and materials, seized the gap between the tide and rose for construction, and successfully completed the restoration task, which won the high recognition of the owners of China Merchants.

Due to the high-quality performance of the project, Wugang Institute established a reinforcement branch on the basis of Li Junbing's team. In the following 10 years, the reinforcement branch has maintained a good business relationship with China Merchants in Hong Kong, and has successively completed the maintenance and reinforcement tasks of hydraulic wharves in more than 10 port areas such as Zhanjiang, Shenzhen, Hainan and Guangdong, with a contract amount of more than 300 million yuan.

Li Junbing was not good at drinking, but he was affirmed and was interested. I also have a drink. He said that life is like a pot of old wine, and the more you brew it, the more fragrant it becomes.

In 2020, the reinforcement branch was transferred from Wugang Institute to the newly established Jianke Company and became the reinforcement business department of Jianke Company. On the new journey, Li Junbing is burning with his unique passion.

At the end of April this year, Li Junbing returned to the company for a meeting. The day before May Day, Li Junbing posted another circle of friends, and he embarked on the journey to Guangzhou again. He said that the reinforcement and maintenance business market has entered the blue ocean era, the Pearl River, the South China Sea, this is his main battlefield.
