Sichuan Lushi Expressway Detote Bridge was successfully closed

The depth helps the Lushi Expressway to run through the "Tibet-Yi Corridor".

Located in Prosperity Village, Detuo Town, Luding County, Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province, the main bridge spans the Dadu River and is an important control project of the whole line of Lushi Expressway. Lushi Expressway connects Iaxi and Yakang Expressway, the two major traffic arteries in western Sichuan, is a veritable "Tibet-Yi Corridor", and is also a route to the "Red Road" that is highly consistent with the path of the Red Army's Long March, and the driving time from Luding to Asbestos will be shortened from the current 3 hours to 1 hour after completion.

The total length of the bridge is more than 1,500 meters, the total length of the steel structure is 638 meters, the steel consumption is about 12,000 tons, the maximum span is 72 meters, the single width is 12.6 meters, and the two-way 4-lane design standard is adopted. The upper part of the main bridge adopts a steel-concrete composite beam structure, and the lower part adopts a steel tube concrete truss pier and a steel cap beam structure.

In the construction process, the steel box girder of the Detote Bridge fully implements the concept of "modular manufacturing and prefabricated construction" to maximize the saving of manpower and material resources and shorten the construction period. The team split each span of the steel box girder into 14 segments, prefabricated in the factory in advance processing and on-site overall assembly, only 20 days to complete the full-width single-span installation, using factory welding, on-site bolting based connection, using more than 210,000 sets of high-strength bolts, bolt diameter deviation maximum allowable value of +0.7 mm, the box girder opening accuracy requirements are extremely high.

In order to ensure the smooth on-site hoisting, BIM technology was used to optimize the bolt layout design in the production of steel box girders in the early stage, systematically promote visual intelligent manufacturing, and strictly carry out inspection, measurement and acceptance for each weld, each hole group and each component, so as to ensure the manufacturing accuracy of steel components in an all-round and whole-process manner.

Since the start of the project, it has experienced serious natural disasters such as earthquakes, strong winds, floods, and mudslides, and the team has worked together to overcome the severe construction environment of high-altitude work, implement strict requirements such as forest fire prevention, and finally achieve high-quality delivery of the project and help the Lushi Expressway to be completed in its entirety.

On the mountains on the west bank of the Dadu River valley, there is a bare soil without vegetation, which is the scar caused by the "9.5" Luding earthquake. On September 5, 2022, a magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck Luding County, Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province, with the epicenter of Moxi Town less than 10 kilometers away from the Detote Bridge. Affected by the earthquake and the project was forced to stop, all the employees of the project department took the initiative to actively carry out self-rescue internally, and invested in emergency rescue externally, setting up emergency tents, condolences to labor workers and affected people, relocating affected villagers, assisting in the distribution of materials, etc., to tide over the difficulties with the people in the disaster area.
