Don't look at the title so big, don't be afraid, this wave, we don't talk about products.

Compared with the tense product PK at the booth, I do prefer small and beautiful workshops, especially those exchanges without swords and swords. This time, in the backstage of the BMW booth, I was fortunate to hear some sharing from the team of BMW China R&D Center, and I had a little more experience on the topic of sustainable development.

It is the cycle rather than the scale that determines the structure of an enterprise. Only companies that have gone through the cycle can maintain sufficient concentration and calmness, have the spare energy to think about problems outside the current battlefield, and have the ability to think about the future of beauty and beauty - BMW's focus on sustainable development is the best example.

Although it still starts with the BMW new-generation concept car, it is only in the details that the skill is seen, and if you read the following knowledge points, you will know what "sustainability" is in BMW's mind.

  • BMW's definition of the "new generation" of personal mobility is based on the following core frameworks: More Human, More Intelligent, and More Responsible. Although they are all user-oriented, from the perspective of product design concepts, the difference between BMW and other brands is that there are fewer didactic ingredients and more natural design. Although the technical level is leading, "strong intelligence" does not seem to be the first choice. In this regard, BMW seems to have a deeper understanding of Chinese tradition than Chinese brands.

  • In the optimization cycle of a high proportion of raw materials, BMW places special emphasis on the use of recyclable monomaterials as much as possible in the achievable parts, such as side skirts and front and rear baffles, in order to reduce the separation of materials in the subsequent recycling process, increase efficiency, reduce losses and achieve a higher recycling rate.

  • The interior design of BMW's new-generation concept car completely abandons the decorative chrome and leather, but it can be mentioned that in the most important part of the appearance, that is, the grille of the front face, the concept car replaces the chrome decoration with lighting effects, which not only improves the visual presentation, but also significantly reduces the use of chrome materials. As for the interior, BMW is developing a 100% natural, plant- or mineral-based, petroleum-free interior material that is currently used in the lower part of the door panels and the center console of the BMW Next-Generation Concept. What we can also see is that the fabric on the interior is made of recycled polyester fibers, and the parts are injection molded using recycled ocean plastic.

  • In terms of interior materials, the all-new BMW 7 Series and the all-new BMW 5 Series are now production cars with animal-free Veganza, while in the New Century Concept, the material called "Verdana", also known as "vegan", is used – if I had to name it, I would probably call it "Vegan".

  • Now when we talk about "efficient power", we should not forget that it is a technical strategy launched by BMW in 2007. Since then, each BMW model has been applying this strategy according to its own characteristics and the needs of the corresponding user group, achieving "more driving pleasure, less energy consumption". In the new generation of models, thanks to the sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology, the energy efficiency of the whole vehicle will be improved by 25% due to the all-round optimization of multiple components such as battery thermal management system, vehicle weight, aerodynamics, tires and braking system, and another noteworthy figure is that the carbon emissions of the new generation of battery cells will be reduced by up to 60% during the production process.

As BMW Group Chairman Philip Zipzer said, "The new generation is not just a car, it is the evolution of BMW's entire product lineup. We're reinventing the company as a whole and our impact on the future of mobility. With the new generation, we are starting from scratch and rethinking personal mobility. We've made significant improvements in every area of technology, and BMW has made great strides in sustainability. ”

What BMW will gain from sustainability is not only a one-dimensional technological progress, product iteration, corporate responsibility and social image, but also a kind of self-innovation that originates from within.

The still water flows deeply, and I am not deceived.
