On April 29, 2024, Shanghai Suhewan Mixc joined hands with the Sichuan Giant Panda National Park Cultural and Creative Innovation Alliance, the Chengdu Giant Panda Tourism and Cultural Industry Promotion Association and the Hangzhou Cultural Expo to jointly create a global panda-themed exhibition called "RUA RUA PANDA". The exhibition not only provides a unique panda cultural experience for Shanghai citizens and tourists, but also aims to raise public awareness of giant panda conservation.
One of the highlights of this exhibition is the "More than Black and White" Giant Panda Photography Art Exhibition brought by Zhou Mengqi, the global promotion ambassador of the giant panda and a well-known giant panda photography artist. At the century-old Tin Hou Temple, the public was able to get a close-up look at the precious moments of the giant pandas captured by Mr. Zhou Mengqi in the national park. These images not only show the living conditions of wild and captive-bred giant pandas, but also show the international influence of China's giant panda culture.
Mr. Zhou Mengqi, a photographic artist from Chengdu, Sichuan, the "hometown of pandas", has created "100,000+" video artworks with more than 32 years of dedicated photography and in-depth exploration of giant pandas and their natural habitats, and has published more than a dozen publications, which have been translated into many Chinese languages and distributed worldwide. His exhibitions have been held in more than 20 countries and regions, presenting the unique charm of giant pandas to a global audience.
Under Zhou Mengqi's lens, the giant panda is not only a black and white figurative, but also a symbol of strength. In his works, giant pandas display near-perfect black-and-white portraits, playful subtle movements, and a magical spirituality to communicate with human emotions. From a warm and deep perspective, the artist interprets the perfect blend of giant pandas, nature and humans, projecting the warmest light of life.
The artworks on display are divided into two units: "Black and White" and "Colorful", focusing on the unique "anthropomorphic" characteristics of giant pandas in Zhou Mengqi's art. In these images, the giant panda is endowed with personality and soul, full of empathy with humans, and shows the vitality and warmth of life. Mr. Zhou Mengqi's years of excellent achievements are not only a vivid display of the history, discovery, habits, breeding, and protection of the giant panda, but also a manifestation of the giant panda from a beautiful individual to a living culture, a kind of Chinese philosophy.
Through this exhibition, Mr. Zhou Mengqi's photographic art not only brings visual enjoyment to the audience, but more importantly, it raises the public's awareness of giant panda conservation, promotes the global dissemination of giant panda culture, and makes a positive contribution to the protection of this precious natural historical heritage.
