IBM发布全新的入门级全闪存存储平台IBM FlashSystem 5300

IBM FlashSystem 5300 provides an all-flash primary storage platform with ultra-high performance and scalability for enterprises facing challenges such as tight data center resources and large workloads, giving customers of all sizes the flexibility to choose the right performance and capacity characteristics for their latency-sensitive workloads and highly fluctuating data sets. Customers can now also leverage the benefits of IBM FlashSystem 5300 to create future-proof storage architectures that maximize the value of their data center investments through the new IBM Storage Assurance licensing model.

"Enterprise customers, large and small, have made AI and ransomware protection a top priority," said Dave Pearson, research vice president of infrastructure systems at IDC. Not only does the FlashSystem 5300 deliver more powerful performance, but its built-in latest FlashCore module technology can detect ransomware in real-time, which will undoubtedly help modernize enterprise hybrid cloud storage to better meet critical business needs. ”

Unlike traditional vendors who invest in monolithic storage systems, the IBM FlashSystem 5300 consolidates more workloads into a tighter footprint (requiring only 1U of standard racks) and provides protection, while enabling better performance and higher capacity caps. The storage platform helps enterprises improve performance, capacity, and data resiliency, including:

· Increased productivity: For similarly configured systems running typical enterprise workloads (e.g., databases), IBM FlashSystem 5300 is capable of delivering up to 45% higher throughput on 70/30/50 typical production workloads[i] and at least 50% higher bandwidth on sequential workloads compared to the previous generation FlashSystem 5200. [ii]

· Increased storage density: Customers can get up to 1.81 PB of effective capacity in a standard 1U rack[iii] and up to 25 PB of effective capacity with an external expansion cabinet. [iv] In addition, IBM FlashSystem 5300 protects more data from cyber threats with Safeguarded Copy snapshot capabilities.

· Enhanced data resiliency: With the power of the latest version of the built-in IBM FlashCore module (FCM4), customers can identify cyber threats[v] in less than a minute, respond faster and avoid business disruption.

· Maximize efficiency: Customers can leverage IBM Storage Insights and IBM Spectrum Virtualize for AI-driven predictive analytics, including AI-based data placement and automation.

· Enhanced VMware Integration: Protect virtual machines from threats with tamper-proof snapshot support, policy-based data replication, and VMware Virtual Volume 2.0 support.

The next-generation FlashSystem 5300 provides a more flexible way to start small and scale as your business grows, including performance and capacity, in a compact form factor and higher storage density. The IBM Storage Assurance licensing model and IBM FlashSystem 5300 are now generally available.

[i] Disclaimer: Performance results are based on IBM internal testing of the FlashSystem 5300 with 12 FlashCore modules, 512GB cache, and 16 32Gb FC ports, and the FlashSystem 5200 with 12 FlashCore modules, 512GB cache, and 8 32Gb FC ports. The FS5200 achieved 270,944 IOPS with a latency of 1.00 ms on a 16KB block size random 70/30/50 workload, while the FS5300 achieved 394,955 IOPS (a 45% improvement) on the same workload. Results may vary.

The FS5200 achieves 17.8GB/s on a sequential read hit workload of 256KB block size, while the FS5300 achieves 28.6GB/s on the same workload. Results may vary.

[iii] Disclaimer: 1U Control Cabinet: 12 drives, 38.4TB = 460.8TB each, configured as a 9+Q+P+S DRAID-6 array, providing 302.12TB of usable capacity with 3:1 compression and 2:1 deduplication ratio after removing RAID overhead and metadata configuration, equals 1.81PB of effective capacity.

[iv] Disclaimer: Two 5U expansion cabinets: 92 drives, 30.72TB each + one 2U expansion cabinet: 24 drives, 1.92TB each - configured as a 10+P+Q+S DRAID-6 array, with RAID overhead and metadata configuration removed, provides an effective capacity of 3,952.68TB + 1U control cabinet: 12 drives, 38.4TB each - configured as 9+Q+P+S The DRAID-6 array provides 302.12TB of effective capacity after removing RAID overhead and metadata configuration. A total of 4 x 254.8TB of usable capacity with 3:1 compression and 2:1 deduplication equals 25,528.80TB of effective capacity in a 13U standard rack.

[v] Disclaimer: IBM Research's internal experiments demonstrated the detection of ransomware within a minute of the ransomware initiating its encryption process. This experiment was done on a FlashSystem 5200 using 6 FCMs loaded with 4.1 firmware, using 8.6.3 GA level software. The host connected to the FlashSystem 5200 runs on a Linux system with XFSFilesystem. In this case, an IBM ransomware simulator called WannaLaugh was used. The underlying system must be compatible with FCM 4.1 and loaded 8.6.3 GA level software in order to obtain the above results.
