Weddings are supposed to be the best moments in life, but sometimes they can turn into an unexpected "bolt from the blue". Just like when my husband and I were about to have a wedding reception, we encountered a dispute within the family.
It all started with an accident, my mother-in-law used the funds we used to prepare for the wedding banquet to buy a car for my brother-in-law. The bride price money originally taken out for the banquet was identified by the mother-in-law as the "just need" of the little uncle. She insisted that this was for her brother-in-law's work experience and attitude, however, I had doubts about my brother-in-law's work experience and attitude. The 30,000 yuan is the bride price returned by my family, not the private assets of my in-laws. This decision of my mother-in-law made me feel angry and helpless.
The turning point was the discussion about the banquet. When I was about to ask my husband to pay the deposit for the hotel, he offered to postpone the wedding. He defended that the current economic situation does not allow it, and it is better to do it again next spring. This offer made me angry and disappointed because we had already prepared everything and even informed friends and relatives in advance. Postponing the wedding meant losing a lot of face and plans, and it also made me doubt his sincerity.
In this controversy, I felt hurt and betrayed. I hope my wedding will go as planned, and I hope my husband will understand the importance I take on this issue. However, my mother-in-law's partiality and my husband's indifference made me feel completely disappointed.
Faced with this dilemma, I began to think about my choice. I don't want to marry into a family with no sense of boundaries and no fair treatment. I realized that marriage is not only a continuation of love, but also a continuation of family values. If my family can't give me fair treatment and respect, I'd rather stay away.
Therefore, I decided to communicate deeply with my family and husband and stick to my principles. I will not compromise my dignity and bottom line in marriage. The strife of this wedding made me more determined in my expectations and choices for the future.
