In 1950, Zhang Xingzhong was ordered by his superiors to personally lead 12 soldiers to take over the three largest wineries in Maotai Town and their burning houses, which are often referred to as Huamao, Wangmao, and Laimao. After taking over all the three distilleries, Sanmao was built into "China Kweichow Moutai Distillery", and he retired to his hometown Shandong in 1974.

The second head of Moutai, breaking the big pot of rice, turned losses into profits, Kweichow Moutai had been losing money for 16 consecutive years when he took office, and made a profit of 4.241 million yuan in 1982.
In 1977, Zhou Gaolian, secretary of the Renhuai County Party Committee of the Communist Party of China and county magistrate, was appointed secretary of the Party Committee and director of Moutai Distillery. During his six years in office, Zhou Gaolian's output of Moutai increased year by year, and its economic benefits increased year by year, and he stepped down in 1983 and retired in 1995.

The third head of Moutai, built the Moutai sales network, restructured into a state-owned investment company, and changed its name to China Kweichow Moutai Distillery Co., Ltd.
He took over in 1981, and in 1996, Kweichow Moutai Distillery was restructured into a wholly state-owned company and renamed as "China Kweichow Moutai Distillery (Group) Co., Ltd." This is a very important institutional change in the history of Moutai.

From technician, technical section chief, technical deputy director, to 1991, he was appointed to become the director and chief engineer of Moutai Distillery, and vigorously promoted the joint-stock system of Moutai Group.
In 1998, he was appointed as the secretary of the party committee, chairman and chief engineer of the distillery, and once again put on the command. In order to achieve the goal of "10,000 tons plan", a listing plan was proposed. In 2001, Moutai was listed, achieving an output of 6,000 tons, and in 2003, it exceeded 10,000 tons.
In 2011, at the age of 74, Ji Keliang stepped down as chairman.

From December 2011 to August 2018, he successively served as a member of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager of China Kweichow Moutai Distillery (Group) Co., Ltd., and Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Kweichow Moutai Distillery (Group) Xijiu Co., Ltd.
