On April 29, Sinopec announced that Mr. Yu Baocai resigned as president of Sinopec due to work reasons. Mr. Zhao Dong was appointed by the Board of Directors as the President of Sinopec and re-designated as an Executive Director for a period of time from the date of approval by the Board of Directors to the expiration of the term of office of the eighth session of the Board.

Zhao Dong, male, Manchu, born in July 1970, holds a doctorate degree in petroleum engineering management from China University of Petroleum (Beijing), a professor-level senior accountant, and graduated from a doctoral degree. He is currently an alternate member of the 20th CPC Central Committee.

Since 2008, Zhao Dong has successively served as Chief Accountant and Member of the Party Committee of PetroChina Exploration and Development Corporation, Chief Financial Officer of PetroChina International Investment Co., Ltd., Deputy General Manager, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection and Chairman of the Labor Union of PetroChina Nile Company.

In August 2013, he was promoted to General Manager and Party Secretary of PetroChina Nile Company, and continued to serve as Secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection and Chairman of the Labor Union.

In November 2015, Zhao Dong was appointed Chief Financial Officer of PetroChina Limited. A year later, he was transferred to China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation as a member of the company's party group and chief accountant. In May 2020, he was appointed as a director and deputy secretary of the Party Leadership Group of China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation.

On June 2, 2022, China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation held a leadership (expanded) meeting. Entrusted by the leaders of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, the principal responsible comrades of the relevant cadre bureaus of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee announced the decision of the CPC Central Committee on the appointment of general manager of China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation: Comrade Zhao Dong was appointed general manager of China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation. So far, this is the new position.

Yu Baocai, who resigned as president of Sinopec, was born in January 1965 in Ningxiang, Hunan Province, started working in July 1987, graduated from the Department of Social Sciences of Harbin Institute of Technology, majoring in political economy, with a master's degree and is a senior engineer. On November 29, 2021, China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) announced the appointment of Yu Baocai as President of Sinopec. So far, he has stepped down.
