Jinping County is located in the southeast of Guizhou Province, with a forest coverage rate of 72.18%, and the primeval forests, primeval secondary forests and artificial fir forests all over the mountains and wilderness are intertwined with a vibrant picture. In the past, the local wood merchant trade was very prosperous, and Jinping documents came into being, becoming the crystallization of the wisdom and life of the Miao Dong people. These precious folk documents are named after the rescue and protection of documents that first began in Jinping County, Guizhou Province. It is one of the most complete, systematic and concentrated historical documents preserved in mainland China, and has been praised by relevant experts as the third most precious historical document in mainland China after the Qing Dynasty documents of the Palace Museum and the "Huizhou Documents" of Anhui. In February 2010, it was included in the "List of Chinese Archives and Documentary Heritage".

Jinping documents are hidden deep in the depths of the mountains, and they are also the pages of history scattered in the people's homes, and the feelings of the documents are permeated in every corner of Shanxiang City. In addition to the unique local forestry contract, Jinping documents also involve land sales, house construction, property pawns, brothers' separation, male and female marriages, ancestor worship and prayer to God, etc., all aspects of the documents record the circulation of land, the rise and fall of the family and the interweaving of emotions, and are closely related to the daily life of the local people. Every contract document is a testimony that "there is no basis for what is said, and it is based on it".

At present, there are more than 60,000 copies of Jinping documents in the Jinping Library, and the earliest documents were produced in the 25th year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty.
