Recently, the 2024 "Waigaoqiao Science and Technology Innovation People Gathering" was held, and more than 100 science and technology entrepreneurs gathered in Waigaoqiao to seek new development. At the meeting, it was revealed that in 2023, the number of high-tech enterprises in the bonded area will reach 171, a year-on-year increase of 6%, and the operating income of high-tech enterprises will reach 41.4 billion yuan, an increase of 17% over the previous year, and the R&D investment and patent output of enterprises will maintain rapid growth.
High-tech enterprises are the main force of scientific and technological innovation, and they are also the main body of practice of new quality productivity. At the scene, the top ten projects of the Waigaoqiao Financial Service Station for non-party intellectuals in Pudong in 2024 were released, aiming to provide convenient, direct and low-cost full-life cycle financial services for science and technology enterprises. In addition, China Construction Bank Corporation Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone Branch, CITIC Securities Co., Ltd., Shanghai Pudong Innovation Investment and Development (Group) Co., Ltd., Contisi (Shanghai) Medical Devices Co., Ltd., Shanghai Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone New Development Co., Ltd., and Shanghai Waigaoqiao Enterprise Development Promotion Center Co., Ltd. have launched initiatives to establish an enterprise resource empowerment platform to empower Waigaoqiao science and technology enterprises in terms of property space, technology research and development, financial products, business development, policy planning, etc.
The event also announced the list of high-tech enterprises recognized in the bonded zone in 2023 and the list of specialized, special and new small giant enterprises in the bonded zone in 2023.
In recent years, the bonded area has made every effort to create a diversified development environment, accelerated the deep integration of scientific and technological innovation with the global market, made every effort to build an international medical device intelligent manufacturing base and a cross-border R&D and production pilot zone for the cell and gene therapy industry, and promoted the agglomeration of innovation ecology such as R&D, trade, funds, and incubation, and the regional innovation ecology continued to be optimized, and innovation achievements continued to emerge. At present, the region has 1 national key laboratory, 7 municipal enterprise technology centers, 12 foreign-funded R&D centers and 8 large enterprise open innovation centers (GOIs) in Pudong New Area, and a number of high-end talents in science and technology innovation have emerged.
The Free Trade Zone Administration of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone Management Committee said that in the future, the bonded area will continue to play the role of a "test field", continue to optimize the management mechanism and resource allocation of scientific and technological innovation, promote the integrated innovation of the basic research system, explore the mechanism for the transformation of innovative scientific and technological achievements, improve the international collaborative innovation mechanism of open cooperation, and further promote innovation and breakthroughs in key areas such as biomedicine, integrated circuits, high-end manufacturing and cruise industry, and continue to create a fertile soil that is more suitable for scientific and technological innovation with more open policies and more pragmatic measures.
The gathering event set up a special session of "New Quality Productivity Market", which was attended by 30 enterprises in the six fields of integrated circuits, biomedicine, green and low-carbon, intelligent manufacturing, new generation information technology and technical services.
