On April 27, the main forum of the 2024 Zhongguancun Forum Annual Conference "Artificial Intelligence Theme Day" - Future Artificial Intelligence Pioneer Forum was successfully held. With the theme of "Technology Leading, Industrial Innovation: Exploring New Trends in Future Artificial Intelligence Development", the forum was attended by Yao Chizhi, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Turing Award winner, and dean of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Sciences of Tsinghua University, as well as a number of well-known scholars and industry experts at home and abroad to discuss the innovation of artificial intelligence technology in the new era and look forward to the development prospects of industrial applications.

The forum initiated the establishment of Zhongguancun Artificial Intelligence Industry Alliance. The alliance is deeply committed to promoting artificial intelligence technology innovation, accelerating cutting-edge breakthroughs in key fields such as algorithms and data, carrying out the "artificial intelligence +" action, accelerating the empowerment of thousands of industries by artificial intelligence, actively exploring new models of talent development, promoting the integration of industry and education, and working together to build a prosperous and common innovation ecological community, promoting in-depth exchanges and cooperation among diverse innovation subjects, and jointly opening a new chapter of openness and win-win.
Tsinghua University and Biodata Technology officially released the video model Vidu, which is the first video model in the world to make a major breakthrough since the release of Sora, with the characteristics of long duration, high consistency, high dynamics, etc., and its performance is fully benchmarked against the international top level, and it is accelerating iterative improvement.
In addition, Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence and China Telecom Institute of Artificial Intelligence (TeleAI) jointly released the world's first low-carbon, high-performance open-source multilingual large model Tele-FLM.
In the keynote speech session, a number of top scholars and industry experts shared the latest research progress, industrial applications and hot issues of artificial intelligence, and discussed the future development of artificial intelligence.
E Weinan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and professor of Peking University, delivered a keynote speech on "AI Method for Two-wheel Drive of Large Model and Big Data". He believes that in the future, the ecology of large models should include model training, databases, knowledge bases, and agent platforms, so how to build an efficient and efficient data system in addition to large models is very important.
Dai Qionghai, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and chairman of the Chinese Society of Artificial Intelligence, pointed out from the perspective of optoelectronic intelligent computing that in recent years, computing power has changed from an important support of artificial intelligence to a constraint, and the breakthrough of optoelectronic intelligent computing technology and the layout of chip development are expected to seize the leading position. The relevant leaders of Baidu, Ant Group, Microsoft and other enterprises also introduced their business progress, and generally believed that the future development direction of large models will focus on model trustworthiness and security, model intelligence and economy.
Embodied intelligence is known as the next wave of artificial intelligence, and the roundtable dialogue session focused on the opportunities and challenges of the embodied intelligence technology industry, and invited the heads of domestic representative embodied intelligence enterprises such as Galaxy General Robot, Xingdong Era, and Unitree Technology to have a warm exchange and discussion on the development of embodied intelligence and AGI, and Unitree robot dog also conducted on-site demonstrations.
The panelists at the roundtable believed that embodied intelligence is an important path to AGI general artificial intelligence, humanoid robots are regarded as one of the most efficient ways to achieve embodied intelligence, and the industrial field is expected to become the fastest application scenario for embodied intelligence.
Beijing has taken multiple measures to promote the artificial intelligence industry
In order to build a national full-stack innovation highland for artificial intelligence, the Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission, the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, the Zhongguancun Management Committee, and the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology have formed the "Several Measures to Accelerate the Leading Development of the General Artificial Intelligence Industry" (hereinafter referred to as the "Several Measures").
At the forum, Lin Jianhua, deputy secretary of the party group and deputy director of the Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission, introduced that the "Several Measures" put forward ten specific measures in five aspects: improving the supply of intelligent computing power, strengthening the research and development of industrial foundation, promoting the accumulation of data elements, accelerating the innovative application of large models, and creating first-class development.
In order to further promote the "artificial intelligence +" action and expand the application scenarios of industry large models, the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission and the Zhongguancun Management Committee, together with relevant Beijing municipal committees and bureaus and various districts, jointly held the 2023 Beijing Industry Large Model Innovation and Application Competition, and presented awards to the first-prize enterprises in six tracks, including government affairs, finance, industrial upgrading, medical care, culture and education, and smart city.
Relying on the results of the competition, the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission and the Zhongguancun Management Committee compiled and released the "Beijing Artificial Intelligence Large Model Industry Application Analysis Report", which analyzed and judged the characteristics, challenges and trends of the application of large models, and put forward relevant suggestions in different fields.
At the same time, the two sides announced the official launch of the reserve project solicitation of the Beijing Artificial Intelligence Application Scenario Joint R&D Platform, which is mainly for industry users, aiming to integrate industry resources and high-quality data, open up the needs of industry scenarios, provide a joint R&D environment, attract and gather advantageous innovation teams, and accelerate the progress of artificial intelligence technology and industrial landing.
At the forum, Yue Li, member of the Standing Committee of the Haidian District Party Committee and executive deputy mayor of Beijing, released the concept of Haidian Artificial Intelligence Innovation District.
Located in the south of Haidian District, with an area of 53 square kilometers, the Artificial Intelligence Innovation Block takes "three horizontal, two vertical and one belt" as the framework, connecting the scientific and technological achievements of 37 top universities, 10 new R&D institutions, 52 national key laboratories, 106 national scientific research institutions, and 1,300 artificial intelligence enterprises, bringing together the wisdom of 12,300 artificial intelligence scholars and 89 AI2000 global top scholars, and creating an urban intelligent body that can learn, think, warm and evolve. In the next step, Haidian District will take the lead in building intelligent model rooms in the two pilot areas of Wudaokou and Dazhong Temple, and promote the integration of the "three districts" of blocks, campuses and parks.
Focusing on the development of embodied intelligence, Tang Chao, deputy director of the Management Committee of Zhongguancun Science City and deputy head of Haidian District, released a three-year action plan to build a national embodied intelligence innovation highland.
The plan focuses on embodied large models and robot machines, and deploys six major actions, including source innovation breakthrough action, ontology product leading action, innovation platform empowerment action, application scenario demonstration action, industrial cluster construction action, and ecological rainforest building action, and strives to initially build a national source of embodied intelligence original innovation, a new highland for application demonstration and an industrial acceleration gathering place by 2026, and become the core force of the mainland to participate in global embodied intelligence competition.
