The fifth-generation DM-i blessing! Qin L continues to "beat" the joint venture sedan?

The appearance of the "798" Qin PLUS completely overturned the table of the joint venture compact car, and this time at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show, BYD once again added weight and launched the Qin L with a higher positioning. The new car has a different design language from the Qin PLUS, and uses BYD's latest fifth-generation DM-i hybrid technology, so will the appearance of the Qin L hit the joint venture compact car market again?

Looking back on the appearance, Qin L uses a design language shaped like Song L, which is more personalized and sharp than Qin PLUS, and the bulging lines on the cabin cover emphasize the muscular feeling. The black grille with embossed dot matrix metal chrome trim presents a good sense of sophistication and visual impact. Of course, the more eye-catching effect is the "fanged headlights" on the left and right sides of the middle grid, which have a visual effect when lit.

The fastback roof design makes the Qin L's posture similar to that of the BYD Han. In terms of dimensions, the length, width and height of the new car are 4830/1900/1495mm, respectively, and the wheelbase is 2790mm. The exaggerated rib line on the lower skirt and a folded shoulder line pulled from the front fenders not only enrich the layering of the body, but also enhance the sporty sense of the vehicle. The fly in the ointment is that the wheel style of the low-end model is similar to that of the Qin PLUS, which lowers the overall image a bit.

The rear design of the car looks a bit coupe from the 45° angle of the side and rear, and the whole looks relatively full, and the rich lines also outline an obvious sense of hierarchy. The interior of the through-type taillights uses a lamp cavity structure similar to the "Chinese knot", the visual effect is not bad, and the wide lower guard plate also enhances the sense of heaviness of the vehicle.

The interior part, Qin L adopts a family-style design language, the floating central control screen is actually a rotatable Pad, the size of the full LCD instrument is slightly smaller, and the glossy black trim plate made of baking paint is used on the left and right to enhance the visual experience. The steering wheel is a "D-shaped" design, and the left and right functional areas integrate many functional controls, such as cruise system, multimedia control, and so on. The shape of the gear knob is more chic, and there is also a wireless charging panel on the front, which I believe can please many young consumers.

In terms of seats, although the Qin L has a sporty appearance, the seats are still built around comfort, with wide seat cushions in the front seats, supporting heating/ventilation and other functions, and the rear seat backrest inclination is not small, and the interior is filled with soft materials, and the ride comfort is believed to be good. In addition, the addition of details such as rear air conditioning outlets, reading lights, charging interfaces and other details also improves the user's car experience.

The fifth-generation DM-i system is composed of a 1.5L engine + motor, with a maximum engine power of 74kW and a motor power of 120kW. The battery is a lithium iron phosphate blade battery with a capacity of 10.8 kWh and 15.87 kWh, corresponding to a pure electric range of 60 km and 90 km, respectively. As for the price of the new car, it was not announced at the Beijing Auto Show, but from the perspective of positioning, the starting price of this car will not be less than 100,000 yuan.
