Left-behind children are mostly cared for by their grandparents, and their parents have limited time to accompany them, coupled with the low education level of their grandparents, so that these children face many problems in the process of growing up, such as psychological loneliness, backward academic performance, and poor habits. In response to this problem, since the spring semester of 2024, the school has made great efforts to pay attention to and take a variety of measures to help left-behind children grow up healthily.
1. Party building leads pairing assistance
The school has set up a left-behind children assistance team composed of party members and class teachers to carry out paired assistance and provide left-behind children with learning counseling, psychological counseling, life assistance and other services.
2. Home visits build trust
Through home visits, we can grasp the situation of each left-behind child, including their personality, interests, family background and learning situation. When you get to know your child better, you will be able to provide them with the right support and education.
It is very important to build a relationship of trust with left-behind children. They need to feel cared for and understood in order to be willing to be educated and helped. By caring about their lives and listening to their ideas and needs, we build a relationship of trust between teachers and students.
3. Learning Counseling Role Model Inspirational
Set positive role models for left-behind children, inspire them to learn from role models and cultivate correct values and behavioral habits by telling the stories of successful people and inviting outstanding students to share their experiences.
In response to the learning problems of left-behind children, the teachers of the support group stimulate their interest in learning through individual tutoring, heart-to-heart talks, and activity development.
4. Psychological counseling to enhance self-confidence
Left-behind children are often stressed and lonely. The school regularly invites experienced police officers from the community to provide psychological counseling to left-behind children to help them relieve their emotions and enhance their self-confidence and self-control.
5. Home-school co-education, hand in hand
In order to strengthen the communication between parents and left-behind children, the school has established a parent contact platform through parent-teacher meetings, telephone calls and WeChat, so that parents can understand their children's learning and living conditions at school. At the same time, it is recommended that parents care more about their children and communicate with their children often by video to understand their children's learning, living conditions and spiritual needs.
Through the unremitting efforts of the teachers, the action of caring for the left-behind children has achieved initial results. The intervention of psychological counseling and heart-to-heart talks has effectively alleviated the psychological pressure and loneliness of left-behind children. Children gradually open their hearts, are willing to communicate and share with others, and are able to understand the difficulties of their parents. Many left-behind children have changed their study habits and their grades have improved significantly. The social skills of left-behind children have been exercised and improved. They gradually dare to express themselves and learn to communicate and cooperate with others. The establishment of parent-teacher conferences, telephone and WeChat contact platforms has enhanced communication between parents and children. Parents pay more attention to their children's learning and living conditions, and actively participate in their children's growth process.
Seeing that the children's academic performance has improved, their habits have improved, and their mentality has changed, the smiles on the children's faces have increased...... Everyone was very pleased. The steady development of the action of caring for left-behind children not only fulfills the original mission of educating people for the party and the country, but also strengthens the trust and support of the society and parents for the school.
