Countdown to the opening of the North Cross Passage (East Section)!

author:Shanghai Traffic Broadcasting

The construction of the Beiheng Corridor (East Section) has made new progress, the Chengtou Highway is responsible for the investment and construction, and the asphalt concrete pavement constructed by STEC Shanghai Road and Bridge has been fully promoted, and today is the key stage of the main line of the eastern section of the Beiheng Passage to sprint to the goal of opening to traffic in the first half of 2024, completing the country's first unmanned paving technology application of urban underground long tunnels, helping the development of intelligent construction of traffic engineering to take a big step.

The Beiheng Passage runs from the Beihong Road Interchange in the west to Neijiang Road in the east of Zhoujiazui Road, with a total length of about 19.1 kilometers, passing through six administrative districts: Changning District, Putuo District, Huangpu District, Jing'an District, Hongkou District and Yangpu District. The western section of the project is about 10.9 kilometers long and opened to traffic on June 18, 2021, and the eastern section of the project starts from the Tianmu Road interchange Wen'an Road junction in the west to Zhoujiazui Road Neijiang Road in the east, with a total length of about 8.2 kilometers, of which, the Longchang Road interchange was completed and opened to traffic on July 31, 2020, and the main line of the eastern section of the Beiheng Passage under construction is about 6.9 kilometers long, with 3 pairs of import and export ramps set up along the line, and the tunnel will be completed in July 2023, and the main line structure construction will be completed in December, traffic safety construction, the earliest is planned to be opened to traffic at the end of May this year.

Shanghai traffic broadcast reporter at the construction site saw that two asphalt pavers and five rollers cooperated in construction, and there were no workers in the cockpit, which realized the unmanned paving technology in a real sense, which is also the first time in China to carry out unmanned paving and compaction in the urban underground long tunnel. The equipment is equipped with a variety of sensors to perceive the surrounding environment in real time, obtain detailed information about the surrounding environment, and plan the best driving path through algorithm calculation, so as to complete the operation efficiently and ensure the flatness and compaction of the road, under normal conditions, compared with manual paving, the work efficiency can be increased by 30%.

The application of unmanned paving technology in urban underground long tunnels is also a valuable research and practice to expand the application scenarios of unmanned paving and meet the diverse needs of urban construction. In addition, in the construction of the Beiheng Passage, new materials and new processes such as odorless environmentally friendly asphalt and low-temperature environmentally friendly asphalt will be comprehensively used, adhering to the principles of green, energy-saving and efficient construction, and promoting the sustainable development of the construction of the underground passage project.
