Apple's headset Vision Pro has been released for a few months now, but there has been very little sharing on the internet about how to design a headset app. In this article, let's take a look at what experience DingTalk has to learn from the Vision Pro version.
DingTalk Vision Pro Design Practice – Exploring New Ways of Working in the Future

As the flagship of digital office collaboration with more than 700 million users, DingTalk has evolved into a powerful and comprehensive platform. How to skillfully make DingTalk travel light in the vast world of Vision Pro and fully demonstrate its unique advantages of immersive experience is undoubtedly a challenging design practice.

In the face of new challenges, the design concept is to reduce the dimensionality of information, focusing on IM communication and collaboration, audio and video, and live broadcast, which can maximize the immersive experience of the Vision Pro.

So what will the DingTalk Vision Pro look like, how does the design help users balance immersion and efficiency, and how does it make users feel familiar but refreshing? Next, let's take a sneak peek and explore the innovative thinking and ingenuity behind this experience design.

#01. Déjà vu but refreshing

Apple Vision Pro is a revolutionary spatial computing device that seamlessly blends digital content into the real world, and we wanted to explore the future while creating a familiar interface on this game-changing device, designed to reduce the learning curve for new devices and enable them to get up and running quickly and effortlessly.

However, when it comes to the details of the interface and the design of the interaction, we strive to innovate and strive to make the user experience feel fresh like never before, ensuring that the product is both friendly and reflects cutting-edge technology, and perfectly meets the high standards of fruit powder users.

1-1. Continuation and reshaping of the frame layout

The user's attention is easily distracted in the space, so we adjusted the frame layout according to the principles of spatial perception and adaptability, and simplified everything. While continuing the existing desktop framework, the product is perfectly integrated with the real scene, and at the same time, it is thinking about how to bring Vision OS's new gesture interaction, visual language and space expansion into full play to bring users a new product experience.

1-2. Unify and renew visual materials

In the use of color, we try to avoid using solid color filling, and opaque solid color will produce a sense of heaviness and oppression in the space. Instead, we used a lot of frosted glass and used the Glass material as the UI canvas, which is unique in that it dynamically reacts to ambient light, automatically adjusting contrast and color balance, making the interface feel lighter and more transparent.

#02.Different scenarios create differentiated experiences

DingTalk involves all aspects of office scenarios, and users are also very diverse, this time we have created three core scenes: chat, meeting, and live broadcast. For different scenarios, we have made differentiated design in terms of experience.

2-1. Communication experience in infinite space

When we first experienced the Vision Pro, we were blown away by its brilliant design, and the high level of completion made me realize that that long-lost "iPhone moment" seemed to be here again!

The new space design, the unique degree of atmosphere immersion, and the innovative natural interaction form of the eyes and hands allow us to see more possibilities in Vision Pro, especially in the communication scenario, almost the existing DingTalk IM experience will be completely overturned and reshaped.

Sci-fi spatial input experience and display effect

The space design of Vision Pro really brings us a refreshing feeling, when the body becomes a mouse and keyboard, the space in which we are located becomes interactive, we are also thinking about how to make communication better and more efficient in this sense of immersion. We keep the most core message types, polish the most important functions such as sending and receiving text, voice, emoji and pictures, so that you can get the purest chat experience.

Multi-window enables efficient parallel multitasking

Unlike desktop and mobile, which are limited by screen size, Vision Pro can present a new multi-window interaction form in an infinite space, and a new multi-window mode can be added to achieve efficient and synchronous multi-tasking.

2-2. Immersive meeting experience as if you were in the spot

Focus efficiently

Based on Vision Pro's spatial design concept, we have completely reimagined the meeting experience. In terms of interface layout, we use the familiar grid view, so that participants can appear in your field of vision at a one-to-one actual scale.

In Vision Pro, we subtly highlighted the speaker's view on the Z-axis, effectively focusing the user's gaze and enhancing the focus of the meeting by leveraging the layering of three-dimensional space.

Immersion

In order to enhance the immersion of the meeting, our design allows users to hide all elements of the conference interface and focus on the display of video screens, so that the user's attention is completely focused on the communication itself, and at the same time, the real environment behind it greatly enhances the sense of face-to-face communication of video calls, which is also a difficult experience for traditional terminal applications.

Realism

The most surprising part of the meeting was the emergence of the "virtual human", where users can scan and capture the depth information of their faces through the Persona function of Vision Pro and generate a realistic 3D digital avatar that can display a 3D image of the other person during a call, and reflect the facial and hand movements of the other person in real time, as if they were communicating in front of their eyes.

Real-time interactivity

With real-time interactive annotation, participants can draw, write, or add annotations on the shared screen instantly. All of this is accompanied by instant visual feedback and seamless synchronization, providing an immersive collaboration experience for team members, significantly improving team co-creation and decision-making.

2-3. A live viewing experience with a strong sense of atmosphere

The ultra-simple live viewing interface and enhanced interactive atmosphere function provide a deeply immersive viewing experience while enhancing user participation.

#03. The full use of spatial characteristics in emotion

Apple Vision Pro Spatial Canvas & Vision allows apps to transcend the boundaries of real space in the user's world, which is why we have launched the new Spatial sticker to make full use of the characteristics of infinite space, convey an emotional atmosphere in infinite space, and make users experience extremely immersive and interesting communication.

Whether in IM chats, meetings, or live broadcasts, you can easily call and send, and the vivid expressions allow each other to perceive the most real emotions and activate the atmosphere of communication and interaction.

The Spatial sticker function is now available on the DingTalk mobile terminal for a limited time (Note: the mobile terminal is called Super Emoji)

end

With the vigorous development of virtual reality and augmented reality technology, we see the opportunity for DingTalk to further expand its boundaries, and the Vision Pro version of DingTalk is a subversive exploration of the future of office.

In the future, we will continue to optimize the user experience of DingTalk Vision Pro Edition, combine DingTalk's business scenarios, and continue to design and explore more possibilities, hoping to bring a more efficient and pleasant work collaboration experience to every user of DingTalk, so that they can fully release their creativity and push digital office to a new height.

We believe that in this digital era, Vision Pro DingTalk will open a new chapter for users.
