Monga, now known as Wanhua, is the birthplace of Taipei City, and its oldest street is in Daxikou, the former site of the Shamao Kitchen Society, which is now the intersection of Guiyang Street and Huanhe River. In the 48th year of the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1709 AD), Chen Laizhang asked for the reclamation of Dajiala, and the people of Jinjiang, Nan'an and Hui'an in Quanzhou, Fujian Province crossed the sea to come here and gradually became a settlement, at that time, the Pingpu people used canoes to carry white potatoes and other agricultural products from the upper reaches of the Tamsui River to trade with the Han people, and the canoe was pronounced as Banka in the Pingpu language, and the Han people transliterated it as "Monga".
In the early years, the northern part of Taiwan was a barbaric miasma land, as the saying goes, "three in six deaths and one turn back", the environment is very sinister, the Han people came to reclaim the plant in order to ask for divine blessings, and carried more hometown temple incense for protection, and later because the Han settlement gradually increased, the people of Sanyi then built Longshan Temple in the third year of Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty (1738 AD), and invited Guanyin Bodhisattva of Longshan Temple in Anhai, Jinjiang County, Fujian Province to come to Taiwan. Yongsan Temple is not only a center of faith for residents, but also prays for the judgment of the gods in all deliberations and lawsuits. In the Sino-French War in the tenth year of Guangxu (1884 AD), the French army invaded Keelung Shiqiu Ridge, and the local residents organized a righteous army to use Longshan Temple to seal the civil office to help repel the French army, and was awarded the plaque of "Cihui Yuanyin" by Emperor Guangxu.
The original Longshan Temple, the scale is majestic, the sculpture is exquisite, after Jiaqing 20 years (AD 1815) earthquake rebuilt, Tongzhi six years (AD 1867) storm invasion and then built, to the Republic of China eight years of the pillar was eroded by termites, when the abbot Fuzhi Master took the lead in donating more than 7,000 yuan of life savings, raising funds to repair, laying the scale of today's Longshan Temple. In the fourth year of the Republic of China, it was destroyed by air raids during the Second World War, and the nave was completely destroyed, but the statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva still sat on the lotus platform, and the treasure was solemn; in the past, there were air raids, and the residents all took refuge under the rosette of Guanyin Bodhisattva, but on the eve of the air raid, the residents who took refuge returned home because of the unbearable mosquito infestation, so that no one suffered when the nave was destroyed, and the residents believed that it was Guanyin Bodhisattva who was sheltered and ran to tell each other, and this miracle made Guanyin Bodhisattva become a major spiritual pillar for the residents of Monga.
Longshan Temple sits in the north and faces south, the face is in the shape of a hollow character, it is the palace-style building of the Chinese classical three-entry quadrangle, which is composed of the front hall, the main hall, the apse and the left and right dragon guards. The front hall is 11 bays, divided into three river halls, dragon gate halls, and tiger gate halls. In front of the Sanchuan Palace, there is a pair of bronze dragon pillars that are only seen in Taiwan, and the front wall wall is composed of granite and green bucket stone, and the stories on the wall are mostly from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms and the list of gods, which is rich in educational significance. The roof of the main hall is composed of 42 pillars in the corridor on all sides, the outer wall of the hall is blocked with a number of stone carvings of famous calligraphers, the spirulinal algae well in the hall does not cost a nail and an iron, all are made up of the inlaid construction of the bucket phase. The roof of the apse is a mountain heavy eaves type, which is a typical Confucian, Taoist gods and Buddha worship place. The left and right dragon guards are equipped with bell towers and drum towers, morning bells and dusk drums, and its car-top flat hexagonal roof has a unique shape. The roof ridge and eaves of the whole temple are shaped by mascots such as dragons and phoenixes, unicorns, etc., decorated with cut-and-stick and cross-toe pottery, with magnificent colors, which can be called the essence of Taiwan's cut-and-stick art.
In the 74th year of the Republic of China, the government announced that Monga Longshan Temple was a second-class historic site under national protection, and was listed as one of the three major scenic spots for international tourists to visit Taiwan along with the National Palace Museum and Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. After the completion and opening of the 94th year of the Republic of China, Longshan Temple also built a cultural square building on Banqiao Cultural Road, and organized a number of courses and lectures to promote Buddhism and promote the cultural value of social education. Monga Longshan Temple regularly holds festivals and folk activities every year, such as the Lantern Exhibition in the first lunar month, the April Buddha Bathing Festival, and the Bon Festival in July.
Monga Longshan Temple is the spiritual temple of Longshan Temple in Anhai, Quanzhou, mainly dedicated to Guanyin Bodhisattva. The roof of the main hall is the heavy eaves type of the mountain, the corridor on all sides, a total of forty-two pillars are constituted, the outer wall of the hall is blocked and left with a number of famous calligraphers stone carvings, the spirulina well of the roof in the hall is built by the whole bucket arch, there is no need for a nail and an iron, the shrine is fine and magnificent, the roof of the apse is the heavy eaves of the mountain, the two wings are the single eaves of the hard mountain, the crest of the house is cut and glued by the clay sculpture of the longevity of the house, it is a typical Confucian, The Taoist gods and Buddhas are worshipped, the left and right dragon roof is a single eaves of hard mountain, the left is equipped with a bell tower, the right is equipped with a drum tower, the morning bell and dusk drum, the roof of the bell and drum tower is a pointed helmet top type, it is a flat hexagonal shape, and the shape is unique. The roof ribbon and eaves of the whole temple are shaped by auspicious animals such as dragons, phoenixes, and unicorns, and are decorated with colored glass porcelain pieces cut and glued and cochin pottery, the color is magnificent, and it can be called the essence of Taiwan's unique cut and paste art.
