At about 9 a.m. on May 11, 1996, a murder occurred in a rental house in the Qijiawan Street Market in Huangpi District, Wuhan. The victim, Hu Moumou, was injured in the head and chest by the murder weapon, and the rescue was ineffective. Some witnesses said that the perpetrators were Bi Mouhan and Bi Mouxue's father and son.
After the incident, Bi Mouhan and Bi Mouxue immediately absconded and did not know what to do.
The Huangpi police investigated and learned that Hu Moumou came to Han from other places and made a living treating bruises in Huangpi District, and had an abnormal relationship with a woman in Qijiawan and had economic entanglements. This woman was Bi Mouxue's wife at the time.
The father and son of the Bi family decided to come to the door to ask for an explanation. Because they heard that Hu Moumou had learned martial arts, the Bi family father and son were worried that they would suffer losses in the fight, so they brought pliers and an awl with them.
At about 9 a.m. on May 11, 1996, a dispute broke out between the two parties at Hu's rental house, resulting in a murder. This year, Bi Mouhan was 56 years old and Bi Mouxue was 30 years old.
At that time, the Huangpi police visited many parties around the social relationship between the two and obtained a black-and-white bareheaded photo of Bi Mouxue, and on May 20 of the same year, he was listed as an online fugitive. This photo also became the key to the final capture of the suspect.

In the following 20 years, the police have not given up their efforts to pursue the suspect, and the criminal investigation police have relayed the investigation just to solve the backlog of the murder case.
Xu Youbao, a 71-year-old retired criminal investigation policeman from the Huangpi District Public Security Bureau, has been retired for many years, but he is not at ease with the backlog of murder cases he handles, and often returns to the criminal investigation brigade to help solve cases with his rich experience.
In Lao Xu's notebook, there are no clues such as the slightly blurred black and white photos of the suspect Bi Mouxue, the relevant information of the case, the identity characteristics of the suspect and the main social relations.

"Every year, we visit and investigate the relatives and friends of the suspects, and we do not miss a single clue. A few years ago, the villagers rumored that the suspect Bi Mouhan may have died, considering the local custom of 'returning to the roots', we went to the cemetery in the village to carry out an investigation, and did not find Bi Mouhan's tombstone, according to which Bi Mouhan is likely to be alive. Xu Youbao introduced that although the effective information of the case is very limited, the case will be filed at the homicide backlog research and judgment meeting organized by the sub-bureau every year, and the special police will report and judge it.
In the past 28 years, the Criminal Investigation Brigade of the Huangpi District Public Security Bureau has also received suspected clues many times, no matter how far away, it will arrange for the police to go to the field to investigate and verify as soon as possible, but unfortunately it has been empty again and again.

On April 6, 2024, the Jizhong Public Security Bureau of Hebei Province sent a clue that a man was found in Renqiu City, Cangzhou City, with a similar appearance to a photo of Bi Mouxue, an online fugitive.
With the full support of the Jizhong Public Security Bureau and the criminal investigation, technical investigation, network security, and visual investigation detachments of the Wuhan Municipal Public Security Bureau, combined with the tracking situation over the years and local video surveillance resources, the special police of the Huangpi District Public Security Bureau successfully determined that a man in a remote farm in Renqiu City was highly consistent with the characteristics of Bi Mouxue, and there was a major suspicion. On April 8, the police arrested the suspect man in the farm compound of Yongfeng Village, Renqiu City.
The police of the criminal investigation brigade of the Huangpi District Public Security Bureau immediately conducted a surprise interrogation of the suspect man, breaking through his psychological defense.
The suspect man confessed that he was Bi Mouxue, and because he suspected that Hu Moumou had an improper relationship with his wife, he absconded after injuring him with a weapon that caused his death.

The police interrogated and learned that after the Bi family father and son absconded, they traveled to Xiaogan, Henan, and Hebei, and finally settled in Renqiu City. For 28 years, they have lived incognito, cut off contact with relatives, and made a living raising pigs and cattle in remote rural areas.
At the time of the murder, Bi Mouxue was still a young man in his prime, and now he is full of weather. Bi Mouhan is also over eighty years old, has suffered from cerebral infarction, and has difficulty moving. Both regretted their impulsive actions.
The police said that the suspects have been taken criminal coercive measures in accordance with the law, and the case is being further handled.
