On April 25, the fourth meeting of the 12th Council of the Foshan Red Cross Society and the mobilization meeting for the fundraising of the "5.8 Humanitarian Public Welfare Day" were held. The meeting approved the "2023 Work Report of the 12th Council of the Foshan Red Cross Society" and the "2023 Financial Revenue and Expenditure Report of the 12th Council of the Foshan Red Cross Society", and informed the "Supervision Work of the First Board of Supervisors of the Foshan Red Cross Society in 2023". At the same time, flags were awarded to the two newly established volunteer service teams, signs were awarded to the four newly joined group member units, and honorary certificates were awarded to Cheng Jihui, an advanced model of national Red Cross volunteer service in 2023.
At the meeting, the Foshan Red Cross Society reported on the use of funds raised for the 2023 "May 8 Humanitarian Charity Day". Last year, a total of 503,300 yuan was raised, and so far, the amount raised has been 418,714.14 yuan, with an implementation rate of 83.2%. According to the requirements, it is mainly used to purchase 13 AEDs, carry out 58 emergency ambulance training courses (periods), train 2,435 Red Cross ambulances, purchase 650 first-aid kits, 240 first-aid kits, purchase 1 professional lifeboat, and 20 professional life jackets. On the spot, 7 units including Yuanjia School were issued AEDs purchased by the raised funds at the municipal level. The fund-raising activities not only gathered the love of the citizens, but also promoted the spirit of the Red Cross and strengthened the city's emergency rescue work.
Comrade Wen Xi, deputy mayor of the municipal government and president of the Municipal Red Cross Society, fully affirmed the work of emergency rescue training and hematopoietic stem cell donation in the forefront of the province. She called for adhering to political guidance, firmly grasping the correct development direction of the Red Cross cause, adhering to the deep integration of party building and business work, strengthening the construction of the organizational system, and grasping the reform of the Red Cross.
