The Lamborghini Urus has finally been electrified, with the new Urus SE replacing the Urus S, the entry-level model. The super SUV is equipped with the same 23.9kWh battery as the Porsche Cayenne Turbo Hybrid and can travel up to 60 km in pure electric mode.
Compared to the Urus S, the new SE has undergone several improvements, including a power-to-weight ratio. The new SE has a total output of 789 hp (800 metric hp) and 950 Nm of torque. The engine inherits the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 of the old Urus, which makes 611 hp and 800 Nm of torque. The permanent magnet synchronous motor inside the eight-speed automatic transmission can add 189 hp and 482 Nm of torque. The 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 3.4 seconds, which is 0.1 seconds faster than the Urus S, and the top speed is 312 km/h.
Debuting on the Urus SE is the new centrally located longitudinal electric torque vectoring system with an electro-hydraulic multi-plate clutch that continuously distributes drive torque between the front and rear axles. The transfer case and the new electronic limited-slip differential mounted on the rear axle work in tandem to oversteer the vehicle "on demand".
The Tamboro Drive Selector lets you choose between different driving modes, including Strada, Sport and Corsa modes for road and track, Neve, Sabbia and Terra modes for wet and slippery surfaces, and now there are four new "electric driving strategies" – EV Drive, Hybird, Performance and Recharge. EV Drive is an all-electric driving mode, with the Hybird hybrid mode available for everyday driving.
Performance mode gives you the full potential of the Urus SE, and depending on where you are, the V8's steering, response, sound and air suspension system will all change, with the air suspension providing 15mm of travel in Corse mode and up to 75mm when the lift system is activated.
The exterior design of the Urus SE has also undergone changes, including a new hood that extends all the way to a modified grille, and new LED headlights, which have the meaning of mimicking the Revuelto. The rear styling is modeled after the Gallardo, with a mesh design around the taillights that connects each light cluster. There's also a new rear diffuser, and the SE has 35% more downforce than the Urus S.
Inside, there's now a larger 12.3-inch infotainment display, new designs for the vents, seats, dashboard, and new buttons that feel better than before.
Unlike many other car manufacturers, Lamborghini doesn't shy away from bold paint colors, which is why there are now more than 100 exterior colors to choose from, plus two new color schemes, one orange and one white. According to Lamborghini, the interior options include 47 color combinations and four types of Q-citura embroidery. Of course, those who want to be a little more unique can work with the Ad Personam program to make something truly unique.
The alloy wheels have also been updated with the introduction of standard 23-inch Galanthus rims paired with new Pirelli P Zero tyres. There are three dedicated P Zeros, from 21 to 23 inches, to meet the different requirements of customers for comfort and sportiness. There are also Scorpion Winter 2 tires that can be used in the cold season.
The Urus SE is Lamborghini's second plug-in hybrid, a year after the V12 Revuelto, and later this year, Lamborghini will launch a successor to the Huracan, which will also feature plug-in hybrid technology.
