A few days ago, the Ministry of Commerce of the mainland issued an announcement, announcing that the origin of polycarbonate products in Taiwan Island will be subject to anti-dumping duties, after the Ministry of Commerce conducted an investigation on the sales of petrochemical products from Taiwan Island in the mainland, so as to determine that the relevant products involved in dumping, for which there is a countermeasure to launch. Judging from the public data, Taiwan's polycarbonate products have a revenue of 900 million US dollars in the mainland market, and the mainland has also had an anti-dumping investigation on the rest of Taiwan's petrochemical products, in fact, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council has publicly stated in 2023 that it supports relevant departments to consider partial or termination of ECFA-related preferential policies for Taiwan, because Taiwan has set up trade barriers for mainland products, which obviously violates the original intention of formulating ECFA at that time.
The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council openly stated on 24 April that the DPP authorities have repeatedly revised the rules and have set up obstacles by "intensifying" the rules, thus preventing cross-strait communication and exchanges, and if the DPP authorities adhere to the concept of "Taiwan independence," the mainland will take further measures. Taiwan has made unilateral profits for a long time through trade barriers, and will also try to establish deterrence against the mainland by purchasing US weapons and equipment.
According to Taiwan media reports, Lai Ching-te, the leader of the DPP, publicly stated on 24 April that Lai Ching-te hoped that the political parties on both sides of the strait would have a benign dialogue, and openly shouted that the mainland should have self-confidence and be willing to face the election results on Taiwan, and thus the right way for cross-strait exchanges. It is not difficult to see from Lai Ching-de's remarks that the DPP authorities are now feeling uneasy about the KMT's channels of communication with the mainland, and for this reason there is a situation in which the glass is broken; in fact, when Lai Ching-te was seeking dialogue, he did not mention the "consensus of '92" at all, and he was exaggerating the "two-state theory," so it was a false dialogue on demand.
According to the analysis of the Global Beacon Line, Lai Qingde's search for dialogue is to ask the mainland to recognize the status of the DPP authorities, so he proposed so-called reciprocity, and he also has no bottom line to elevate Taiwan Island, declaring that he will cooperate with the international community to maintain regional stability and peace. Judging from the public list, many people are from Tsai Ing-wen's team, thus highlighting that Lai Qingde's cross-strait line will not be different from Tsai Ing-wen in the short term, so the so-called search for dialogue is the same as that of Tsai Ing-wen's authorities, and it is just a pretense, and the ultimate goal is to get the status of any DPP authorities on the mainland, so the so-called "reciprocity" condition has been proposed.
The DPP authorities have long denied the "consensus of '92" and have openly confronted the mainland on many issues; now Lai Qingde's so-called pursuit of dialogue is actually his "delaying tactics." Lai Qingde is currently trying to gain a firm foothold, so there is a remark that the DPP is seeking dialogue, but in fact, the DPP's short-term goal is to "maintain the status quo," so it is necessary to be vigilant against the political trends on Taiwan. At a time when Lai Ching-te is calling on the mainland to have self-confidence, the United States has already approved a new arms sale to Taiwan, and this time the United States wants to assist Taiwan in enhancing the combat capability of the F-16V Brock 20 batch of fighters, highlighting the nature of the collusion between the United States and Taiwan.
