"In China, for China", what surprises did Volkswagen's new concept car bring?

Unlike previous SAIC and FAW-Volkswagen models exclusive to China, the ID. CODE is the result of a collaboration between Andreas' team and the team in China.
FAW-Volkswagen and SAIC Volkswagen each have about 2,000 engineers, and Volkswagen Anhui designers are also deeply involved, which will eventually be coordinated by Andreas. So ID. The CODE has a higher degree of design completion, and the final visual effect is on the same level as Volkswagen's global models.
The ID. CODE differs significantly from the current ID sequence in terms of its profile, with a more streamlined stance and a powerful wheel arch profile.
As you can see from the design sketches, the streamlined roofline extends from the front windscreen to the C-pillar, connecting with the spoiler in the upper part of the rear window to create a sleek body line. The swooping bonnet, flared wheel arches, and pronounced shoulder and waistline create a clean and powerful side profile. The main color is the signature blue of the Volkswagen R model.
The headlights still have a shadow of the current ID model, and the rear has a thicker line, but it doesn't use the popular through-line design. According to the video data disclosed so far, the closed grille integrates OLED technology, which can customize the light and shadow effects in the state of welcome, charging, etc.
Andreas Mindt, Chief Designer of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, said: "The screen is a very important part of the cockpit design. Globally, screens tend to be landscape-oriented, so we also consider them when designing. The ultra-wide curved screen can also display vertical screen content like Douyin, in other words, you can watch both 16:9 movies and short videos in the cockpit, which is in line with the trend of content display methods. ”
The ID. CODE concept will eventually be presented as an SUV, but with different body sizes depending on the class. In addition, the design language will be applied to all joint ventures, including future models based on the Anhui CMP platform and subsequent ID. BEV models.
