In the quarters from January to March, a total of 98.10 billion chips were produced, a year-on-year increase of 40%, a record high. More institutional data show that in the first quarter of 2024, chip production will be three times that of five years ago. This is enough to prove that China's chip industry has really been soaring in recent years.
Of course, the data has to be compared, according to customs data, from January to March, the mainland's chip imports increased by 12.7% year-on-year to 121.5 billion, while export chips increased slightly by 3% to 62.4 billion.
In this comparison, it can be clearly seen that China's chip production is growing substantially, and then exports have also increased, but although imports have increased, they are still far lower than the growth of domestic chip production.
Therefore, it can be easily concluded that China's chip self-sufficiency rate has increased, and more and more companies are using domestic chips instead of imported chips.
In fact, the growth of China's chips is still in a special context, that is, under the vigorous suppression and containment sanctions of the United States.
The United States has always been the hegemon of chips, relying on chips to dominate the world, so no country is allowed to threaten its chip hegemony, so seeing the rise of China's chips, the United States has not left any power to suppress in recent years.
I am afraid that my family will not be suppressed thoroughly enough, and I will join forces with Japan and the Netherlands to blockade advanced semiconductor equipment, and in this case, China's chip can soar all the way, which is enough to prove that China's chip industry chain is rising, even if it does not rely on foreign equipment, it can grow on a large scale.
However, although the results are excellent, we still have to pay attention to the fact that most of the current domestic chip production is mature chips, after all, the United States has locked a series of advanced equipment such as EUV lithography machines.
Therefore, our production capacity is dominated by mature chips, which makes us far behind the international top level of advanced chips, and we have to rely on imports, which is a problem that we must find a way to solve in the next time, otherwise it is still very risky.
Take Huawei as an example, at present, because it is unable to use the most advanced 3nm process, its latest Kirin chip, and Qualcomm and Apple's top chips, there is a big gap, so domestic chips still have to work hard.
