The mainland's plan has worked, and a large number of Taiwan businessmen have thrown themselves into the mainland, but Taiwan has bluntly said that it has been substantially reunified and will take action to block it

In September last year, the State Council's opinions on supporting Fujian in exploring a new road for cross-strait integrated development and building a cross-strait integrated development demonstration zone aroused strong repercussions on both sides of the strait. As the DPP authorities have quickened their pace on the line of "seeking independence by coercing foreign countries and resisting reunification by force" and the PLA has stepped up joint combat readiness exercises and training in the Taiwan Strait, more and more people of insight on the island have begun to realize that the "Taiwan independence" line is not feasible, and the results of the election of the leader of the Taiwan region at the beginning of this year are the best example.

In the face of the continued decline in the situation in the Taiwan Strait, a large number of Taiwan businessmen on the island have also begun to worry about cross-strait conflicts in the future, so they have accelerated their cultivation in the mainland market. In view of this phenomenon, Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council held its 56 th advisory committee meeting on 23 July, at which some scholars reiterated Yellen's fallacy that violated common economic sense, that is, the so-called "overcapacity, price-cutting, competitive dumping" by mainland enterprises. Another member of the advisory committee pointed out that some Taiwan businessmen, through joint ventures or mergers and acquisitions with mainland businessmen, have transformed into "new mainland businessmen" or "mixed-race Taiwan businessmen" with mixed identities, and have essentially been "naturalized" by the mainland, which will affect the long-term cooperation model of cross-strait industries. Another member of the Advisory Committee held that under the Sino-US competition in science and technology, Taiwan is afraid that it will become the target of poaching high-tech personnel and face the risk of technology outflow.

The mainland's plan has worked, and a large number of Taiwan businessmen have thrown themselves into the mainland, but Taiwan has bluntly said that it has been substantially reunified and will take action to block it

In view of this phenomenon, the Taiwan Mainland Affairs Council is ready to take action to stop it. On 23 April, the MAC suggested that in order to prevent the outflow of Taiwan's high-tech technology, it is necessary to take stock of and update the "list of core and key technologies" and the protection of urgent technologies in a timely manner, and the list should include the fields of "national defense," science and technology, space, agriculture, semiconductors, and information and communications security. This list appears to be designed to protect Taiwanese technology from the outflow, but in fact it is an out-and-out "anti-mainland" proposal.

First of all, a large number of Taiwan businessmen went to the mainland and gradually turned into "new mainland businessmen" The fundamental reason lies in the fact that the DPP authorities have repeatedly undermined the environment for peaceful development across the Taiwan Strait and insisted on colluding with external forces to seek independence, which has led to the mainland's loss of confidence in whether the current ECFA can still have a positive impact on the people on both sides of the strait, and it is not surprising that Taiwan businessmen have the same concerns and have chosen to go to the mainland for development In the end, the Taiwan authorities are willing to turn TSMC into an "American Semiconductor Manufacturing Company" and continue to export local technology, outstanding talents, and job opportunities to the United States, Japan, and other countries, but they are guarding the mainland everywhere.

The mainland's plan has worked, and a large number of Taiwan businessmen have thrown themselves into the mainland, but Taiwan has bluntly said that it has been substantially reunified and will take action to block it

It is hard not to suspect that the so-called "list of core and key technologies" issued by the Taiwan authorities is specifically aimed at the mainland. Therefore, the DPP authorities have followed the example of the United States in the critical period of Sino-US scientific and technological competition and engaged in "technical barriers" against the mainland, with the ultimate goal of cooperating with the United States in encircling Chinese mainland. However, this strategy will obviously not succeed, and Taiwan businessmen will not stop moving to the mainland. The logic is mainly embodied in: First, the pursuit of profit by capital is the objective law of the market, and the United States and Europe frequently hype up the "decoupling issue" and artificially build technology and trade barriers to China, but recently the high-level leaders of the United States and Europe have visited China, and American and European companies have also successively shown high expectations for the Chinese market, including the CEO of Volkswagen Group and the CEO of Apple, who said that the Chinese market is irreplaceable, so Taiwan businessmen cannot leave the mainland market alone.

Second, the mainland's potential for speeding up the process of reunification is stronger than the "Taiwan independence" stamina of the DPP authorities. At present, the People's Liberation Army (PLA) has substantially taken control of the military initiative in the Taiwan Strait, and the mainland's comprehensive national strength and potential are beyond the reach of the Taiwan region; even if the DPP authorities can temporarily blind the eyes and ears of the people on the island by creating an information cocoon, with the advancement of the reunification process and the widening of the gap between the two sides of the strait, the cocoon will be broken sooner or later.

The mainland's plan has worked, and a large number of Taiwan businessmen have thrown themselves into the mainland, but Taiwan has bluntly said that it has been substantially reunified and will take action to block it

The so-called general trend of history cannot be stopped by a handful of diehards on the island. The Taiwan authorities should clearly understand the reality, return to the consensus of '92 and move in the same direction with the mainland, otherwise they will only take a narrower and narrower road, and will not only fail to promote the development of the people's livelihood on the island, but will also fail to realize the illusion of "seeking independence."
