Edie led Purdue University to the National Championship Game, where he scored 37 points and 10 rebounds in the loss to champion UConn, the most points scored in a championship game since Jack Givens of Duke University in 1978. In the NCAA Tournament all-time scoring list, Eddie tied for second place with Bill Bradley with 177 points, behind Glen Rice of the University of Michigan in 1989.
