Abbie Neilson (AN) is a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from Leeds University in the United Kingdom, and Chris Jaume (CJ) is an architect in Leeds, England. Mr. and Mrs. AN and CJ, as whisky enthusiasts and Kochi people, wanted to use their wisdom and actions to contribute to the whisky business in their hometown of Yorkshire, England. So, at the end of 2016, they planned to build a small distillery in Yorkshire and named it Cooper King Distillery (CKD).
Mr. and Mrs. AN and CJ traveled around England while running the distillery, recording the location and information of each distillery, and using their knowledge of drawing to turn the information into a map of the distilleries in England (hereafter referred to as the map). CKD has released the first version of the map since 2016 and has been updating the map annually since 2020, and on April 23, 2024, CKD updated the sixth version of the map.
There are currently 55 whisky producing distilleries in England, some of which are under construction, some are ready for bottling, and some are already in the process of bottling.
