  From April 13th to 18th, the 4th China International Consumer Goods Expo was held in Haikou City, Hainan Province. The scale of the Expo, the number of participating brands, the number of new product launches, the number of visitors and other indicators have all reached a new high, demonstrating China's firm determination to actively expand opening up, and also reflecting the surging vitality brought about by the continuous release of the potential of the consumer market.

  According to the latest data released by the National Bureau of Statistics, in the first quarter, market sales maintained a steady growth trend, the demand for upgraded goods continued to be released, the role of online shopping in driving consumption growth was further enhanced, and service consumption maintained double-digit growth. Consumption contributed 73.7% to economic growth in the first quarter, playing an important supporting role.

  Accurately gain insight into new consumer demand and provide better consumer supply

  The Central Economic Work Conference held at the end of last year proposed to "promote consumption from post-epidemic recovery to continuous expansion".   With a total exhibition area of 128,000 square meters, a total of 4,019 consumer boutique brands from 71 countries and regions participated in the Expo, with the number of participating countries and brands increasing by 9% and 19% respectively compared with the previous year. There were more than 55,000 professional buyers, an increase of 10% over the previous session. The main venue attracted 373,000 visitors, exceeding the previous year's 52,000 visitors.

Judging from the development of the postal express industry, which is closely related to online shopping, the year-on-year growth rate of the national postal express business volume in the first quarter is expected to exceed 20%.

  Consumption hotspots continue to expand and extend, and the consumer demand for upgraded goods is released quickly. In the first quarter, the retail sales of sports and entertainment goods and communication equipment of units above designated size increased by 14.2 percent and 13.2 percent respectively year-on-year. The growth rate of retail sales of housing-related goods accelerated or turned from negative to positive, and the retail sales of household appliances, audio-visual equipment and furniture increased by 5.8% and 3% respectively, and the growth rate was 5.3 and 0.2 percentage points faster than that of the previous year.

  According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, residents had a strong willingness to travel in the first quarter, and consumption of catering, transportation, entertainment and other services grew rapidly. In the first quarter, catering revenue increased by 10.8% year-on-year, and the retail sales of transportation, sports and leisure services grew rapidly.
