The mainland is rich in wind power, photovoltaic and other resources, and has great potential for the development of new energy. In recent years, the mainland has achieved remarkable results in the development of new energy, with the installed capacity ranking first in the world, the proportion of power generation steadily increasing, and the cost falling rapidly. Among them, the integration of water, wind and solar energy in the basin is becoming a new development direction. The integration of water, wind and solar power in the basin refers to the development of hydropower, wind power and photovoltaic power generation by relying on the development of cascade hydropower, hydropower expansion and pumped storage in the basin, and fully tapping the hydropower regulation capacity. It is of great significance to speed up the implementation of the integrated development of water, wind and solar energy in the river basin.

It is conducive to promoting the high-quality development of new energy. The integrated development of water, wind and solar energy in the basin organically integrates the characteristics of rapid response and large-scale energy storage of conventional hydropower and pumped storage with the cost advantages of large-scale development of new energy, and has the technical and economic feasibility of large-scale development in the short term. First, the new energy resources around the large hydropower base area of the mainland are relatively good, and the development of the water, wind and solar integration base in the basin has natural conditions. Second, it can effectively improve the pressure of new energy grid connection, greatly alleviate the impact of new energy power generation on grid frequency and reactive voltage, and effectively support the dynamic balance of the power system. Third, it can effectively play the role of seasonal compensation for wind power and photovoltaic power generation, significantly increase the amount of hydropower delivered during the dry season, improve the power supply capacity, and effectively improve the utilization rate of transmission channels.
As an important promoter of the integrated development of water, wind and solar energy in the basin, Power Construction Corporation of China has thoroughly studied and implemented Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, given full play to the advantages of the integration of the whole industrial chain of "planning, design, investment, construction and operation", scientifically planned and built a new energy system, and actively implemented the integrated development of water, wind and solar in the basin. The first is to basically complete the survey of water, wind and solar resources in major river basins and the research on the potential of hydropower expansion in major river basins, and take the lead in establishing a database of water, wind and solar integrated construction projects in major river basins across the country, accumulating basic data resources for the implementation of integrated development and construction of water and wind in river basins. The second is to take into account the development and construction cycle of various power sources, the construction progress of the main regulated power supply and transmission channels, the economic and social development needs of the receiving market and the development needs of the power market, coordinate the connection between project construction and rural revitalization and infrastructure construction, reasonably formulate the timing and promotion measures of the base power supply, and create an integrated development system with unified planning, organic integration, efficient development and scientific management. The third is to organize and carry out a series of basic technology research and industrial chain construction around key topics such as planning and design, construction and construction, dispatching and operation, equipment manufacturing, electricity price mechanism, and digital management of the water, wind and solar integrated base in the basin, and form a number of original technologies with independent intellectual property rights.
