At the end of 2020, Alibaba announced that it would invest 5.5 billion yuan to build its headquarters in central China, and three years later, a super high-rise building complex inspired by the "Kong Ming Lock" will be unveiled in the core business district of Xudong in Wuchang. As one of the key projects for attracting investment in Wuhan, Alibaba's Central China Headquarters project has attracted great attention from leaders at all levels in the city and district. The company set up a strong project management team at the first time, integrated superior resources, and implemented with high starting point, high standards and high quality. Through the performance of the "tough battle", the project has overcome major construction challenges such as the deepest foundation pit and the deepest underground diaphragm wall, and completed various construction tasks with high efficiency and high quality.

Alibaba's headquarters in Central China is located at the bridgehead of the Second Yangtze River Bridge in Wuhan, where the flow of people and vehicles is intertwined. The total construction area of the project is 452,000 square meters, with four underground floors and 52 floors above ground, consisting of two super high-rise office towers (T1 tower and T2 tower), a 6-storey commercial podium and a 4-storey basement. The podium between the two super-high-rise office towers is ingenious, with the composition of "Kong Ming lock", which is composed of criss-crossing "Hui" shaped corridors and rectangular building plates, creating a unique architectural image.

The project started on April 1, 2021, under the key care and guidance of the company's leaders, according to the characteristics of the project and the requirements of the owner, planned and deployed in advance, configured management personnel at all levels of the project, coordinated the allocation of various resources, and realized the seamless connection between the main project and the soil protection and pile foundation engineering.

In the foundation stage, all the project management personnel have tackled a series of problems. 1,935 piles with a maximum depth of 71 meters, a 780-meter-long and 60-meter-deep ground wall, a site of 44,000 square meters, 82 large-scale equipment, 400 transport vehicles, and 760,000 square meters of earthworks...... Together, these numbers make up this daunting task.

In the face of this series of problems, the project department organized and carried out labor competitions to create a strong atmosphere of "comparing, learning, catching up and surpassing". 17,000 square meters of concrete, 65 hours of continuous pouring, 7,000 tons of steel bars, 58,000 square meters of large bottom plate, 33 days of uninterrupted construction, 1,935 piles, 97.8% of the first-class pile rate, 14,000 square meters of daily excavation peak. All the managers of the project department take one step at a time, and slowly make the impossible possible.

When the project entered the main construction of the steel structure, the project team rose to the challenge, overcame difficulties, worked hard, overcame long-term high temperature difficulties, efficiently dispatched resource allocation, and went all out to promote the construction of the HUB steel structure with "5+2, white and black". After the hottest 60 days and nights, the installation of 152 tire frames, 928 steel components, with a total weight of 2,911 tons, of which the largest truss span is 96 meters, successfully completed the progress goal of the HUB steel structure. The project completed the capping of the main structure 20 days ahead of schedule, and completed the pouring of the positive and negative zero roof of the basement structure of the T1 tower 5 days ahead of schedule. After 1,085 days and nights, on March 21, 2024, the T1 tower of Alibaba's Central China headquarters project was topped out, and the "Kong Ming Lock" has taken shape.

Alibaba's Central China Headquarters project is located in the core area of Wuhan's inner ring, 1.4 kilometers away from the Yangtze River, about 18 meters away from the nearest part of Metro Line 8, with a building height of 272.35 meters and a 4-meter-thick protective wall underground. On the basis of this project, the company has established the "Linjiang Metro Ultra-deep Foundation Pit Key Technology Innovation Studio", which is dedicated to the research and development of related core technologies.

Based on the actual construction of Alibaba's Central China headquarters project, the "Linjiang Metro Ultra-deep Foundation Pit Key Technology Innovation Studio" has developed a complete set of technologies for the "mutual aid" of the deep foundation pit of the Linjiang Metro Falling Ground Connecting Wall + TRD Support, the combination of ultra-deep foundation pit support and trestle bridge, and the key technology of sub-section and sectional dismantling and bracing construction under the working conditions of "first angle and then pairing" and load "line-surface conversion", giving full play to the role of support, water-stopping ground connecting wall and groove wall reinforcement, and water-stopping TRD. TRD is used to drop the bottom on the non-adjacent subway side, and finally achieve the support effect of confined water that is both economical and fully enclosed. Through the application of innovative technology, the problem of ultra-deep foundation pit of Linjiang subway has been successfully solved, the support has no water leakage, the water interception effect at the bottom of the pit is good, and during the demolition of the supporting structure, foundation pit earthwork and internal support, the settlement of the subway track bed, the settlement of the vault and the horizontal displacement are less than the control value, and the effective control of the deformation of the foundation pit and the surrounding environment has been realized, and the construction period has been saved by 79 days. The key technologies of ultra-deep foundation pit composite support and sub-zone dismantling and bracing construction of Linjiang Metro have been summarized and formed, and 6 construction methods, 10 patents have been completed, and 19 papers have been published.

The project comprehensively uses digital technologies such as BIM and "cloud, big things, mobile intelligence" to achieve comprehensive perception and real-time interconnection of key elements such as "man-machine-material law ring" on the construction site, and completes the construction of the project's BIM+ smart construction site platform, as well as the delivery and hardware installation of attached fragmented tool products. In order to improve the accuracy of on-site measurement and pay-off, the project also uses the Trimble pay-off robot for on-site lofting work, with a positioning accuracy of up to 1.5mm and a ranging accuracy of ±3mm, which greatly improves the efficiency and accuracy of measurement and pay-off.

Alibaba's Central China Headquarters project has made every effort to build a regional benchmarking leading project, has been selected as a quality observation project in Hubei Province, hosted the mechanical and electrical installation construction site exchange meeting and engineering observation meeting of Wuhan Construction Industry Association, and performed well in the owner's third-party flight inspection safety and quality inspection, won the first place 5 times, won the Wuhan Civilized Construction Mobile Red Flag Construction Site for 6 times, and won the "Top 10 Excellent" construction sites in Wuhan City, the excellent construction site of Wuhan Urban-Rural Development Bureau, and the top ten construction sites in Wuchang District.
